The Purdue Boilermakers may be a perfect 5-0 and ranked fourth in the country, but the 4-1 Wake Forest Demon Deacons will be no pushovers in this Big Ten/ACC Challenge contest.

NCAA Basketball Betting Yes, Wake Forest got upset at home by William & Mary on Saturday, but they were no doubt already looking ahead to this battle after a 4-0 start and they will be much more focused tonight. The Demon Deacons are averaging 78.4 points per game and hitting a very nice 47.7 percent from the field, and their fast-break style could give the normally stiff Purdue defense fits.

Yes, the Boilermakers have some excellent defensive numbers, but the only real opponent they have faced so far is Tennessee, and the Boilers barely escaped that game with a narrow 73-72 win, allowing a season high in points. Wake is just as athletic as Tennessee is, and if they can score around 70 points, then Purdue would have a difficult time covering this double-digit spread, considering that their offense is shooting a mediocre 44.7 percent from the floor.

While we are not necessarily calling for an outright upset here in West Lafayette, we would not be totally shocked if Wake Forest did just that. In any event, we do see them sticking within single-digits for the entire game.

In fact, I am now on a 4-0-1 run. I could have easily won thus game tonight and I lost by 1/2 point with Rider -15.5 last Tuesday, so if those would have won, we'd be talking about an 8-1 run right now. Still, nothing wrong with 6-2-1. ;)

Really! I mean Really. Okay, I'll tell you why your Demon Deacons are going to get blown out of the water tonight by the Purdue Boilermakers! 1. Purdue has proven it can hang with an athletic top ten team like Tennessee. Who has Wake played? Ummm William and Mary. Nuff said. 2. Purdue lockdown defense doesn't necessarily mean they can't run with the bigs. Purdue chooses to play a slower paced game and control it on both ends of the floor. If we have to we can run with anyone in the country. i.e. Tennessee. 3. Talent and unselfishness with the ball. Purdue has many weapons. E'tuan Moore the silent assasin, Robbie Hummel who just came off a double double against Central Michigan, Jajuan Johnson who will punish you if you give him any kind of a look from 18 feet in. Not saying Wake doesn't have talent, but the boilermakers have them outmatched and outclassed. 4. Coaching. Matt Painter has these guys prepared! Bottom line, they don't even realize how good they are because Painter won't allow that kind of mentality. You factor in they are playing at Mackey and you can expect a win in double digits.
