OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- Todd Walker is looking for a
job once again, as the veteran infielder was released by the
Oakland Athletics on Thursday. Walker was signed to a minor league contract March 30 after
being released by the San Diego Padres. He played 18 games with
Oakland, hitting .271 (13-for-48) with four RBI while primarily
subbing for the injured Dan Johnson. When Johnson returned from a hip injury April 25, Walker's
services no longer were needed. He was designated for
assignment Saturday to make room for lefthander Dallas Braden. Walker has a career average of .289 with 107 home runs in 11
seasons with six different teams.
