Wake Forest vs. Florida State

Florida StateFlorida State is back in the top ten and they are laying the lumber at home against the Demon Deacons of Wake Forest. Will the Seminoles cover the online point spread in this conference battle?

I am going to tell you straight up that I love what I see when I scope out this week's NCAA football odds. There are a couple of games that I like a lot and one of them is the ACC battle between the Florida State Seminoles, who are ranked number five in the AP poll and number six in the USA Today poll and the Demon Deacons of Wake Forest.

Wake Forest All Out Beat North Carolina

In their season opener Wake Forest barely got by Liberty, 20-17 as 25.5 point favorites, and this is not a good sign coming into the Florida State game.

Last week Wake Forest entertained North Carolina and it was a barn burner. The Demon Deacons quarterback Tanner Price engineered a 93 yard game-winning drive going 6 of 7 through the air for 67 yards before scoring the winning touchdown on a quarterback sneak.

In that game the online sportsbooks opened with North Carolina as a 6.5 point favorite. However, bettors pushed the figure up to 10 or 10.5 depending on where you placed your bet. So, it was a nice win ATS for Jim Grobe's bunch, but it came with a cost. Their thin defense got banged up quite a bit, with cornerback  Kevin Johnson suffering a concussion and nose guard Nikita Whitlock spraining an ankle.

When you read remarks from the coach it sounds like he felt as though the team really reached a pinnacle last Saturday. That's a mixed bag because you don't really want to shoot your load this early in the season. It would seem as though a let-down is in order, psychologically and physically, as Wake Forest put it all on the line while suffering some significant casualties.

Florida State Looking for Revenge

Florida State is loaded this year and they are sitting in a prime spot this week. They opened their season against Murray State. It got ugly early, as you might expect, with the Seminoles eventually walking away with the 69-3 victory in a game that the odds makers didn't bother to place on the boards.

They followed that up with a game against Savannah State last week. The second week opponent for Florida State was originally slated to be West Virginia so Florida State did not intentionally start off with two straight gimme games.  It turned out that the  Mountaineers had to back out when their move to the Big 12 created a conflict in scheduling.

Last Saturday's game against Savannah State is going to be talked about for quite a while in online NCAA football betting circles, because it was in fact, on the board with Florida State laying a rather incredible 67 points. They were ahead 55-0 with just under 9 minutes left in the third quarter but the game was called due to bad weather. That is a rare type of bad beat if you did in fact lay the 67 with Florida State.

Last year Wake Forest beat Florida State at home in Winston-Salem by a score of 35-30. So, Florida State is going to have revenge on their minds going into this contest on their home field at Doak Campbell Stadium.

If you check out our free college football betting lines you'll see that Florida State is a 25.5 point favorite (as of this writing).

Florida State barely broke a sweat last week in a rain shortened game against a very poor opponent. Wake Forest on the other hand gave everything they had to eke out a victory at home against North Carolina.

Florida State is like a finely tuned race car that hasn't yet had an opportunity to hit the oval and they're finally getting a chance on Saturday. For this reason, the Florida State Seminoles are on my pick list and I look forward to a nice cash on this betting ticket.
