Rose Bowl Preview & Free Pick:
Wisconsin vs. Stanford
The Wisconsin Badgers and the Stanford
Cardinal will face each other on the field in the “Granddaddy Of
Them All” when they meet in the Rose Bowl on this New Years Day as
both teams will attempt to grind out a victory while also trying to
beat the college football betting lines.
Kickoff in this traditional and classic
contest is schedule for 5:00 PM EST from Pasadena, CA and can be seen
live on national television, with broadcast coverage provided by
ESPN.
The current College Football odds for this game has the advantage
going to Stanford, who are listed as -5 point favorites, while the
over/under total is coming in at 47 ½ points.
Initially this matchup wasn’t as
appealing as the normal Rose Bowl contests we have grown accustom to
watching on New Years day, but with Brent Bielema bolting Wisconsin
for a head coaching job with Arkansas, we get to see a return
appearance by former coach and current AD Barry Alvarez, who took the
Badgers to three Rose Bowls during his tenor, resulting in a 3-0
record.
Wisconsin features a defense that
surrenders about 19 points a game, which is 19th best in the county.
Stanford is even stingier, as they are only allowing opponents to
score 14 points per contest.
Needless to say, we can expect ole
fashion football in this game with points coming at a premium.
Wisconsin is a poor 0-5 against the
spread in their last five non-conference games and 4-9 ATS in their
last 13 following a straight up win.
Before making your Colege Football picks here, do note that five of their last seven bowl games
have stayed under the posted total.
Stanford is a sensational 10-1 against
the spread in their last 11 non-conference games and 19-6-1 in their
last 26 games played on a grass field. They have also gone over the
posted total in 19 of their last 26 games versus a team with a
winning overall record.

If you like to watch games that area
shootouts and feature plenty of action this game is not the one you
want to view, as both teams are very difficult to score against. For
this reason, I am going under the posted total in this contest.
