Can #4 Boise State continue to dominate - and can they cover
in the largest spread in Week 6 of NCAAF betting?
Moving away from Week
5, Week 6 for college football betting now presents us with the largest
margin in the current pointspread. Currently #
4 Boise State is a 39-point favorite
to beat Toledo on Saturday, with a
57 ½-point total.
With live updated odds
from SBR in the article, we'll see if that remains true as kickoff inches
closer. But at any rate, this spread is
no joke as I like Boise State to
cover in this blowout at home.
Toledo Rockets (+39)
(3-2 Overall)
With more wins than losses Toledo still averages
more points against than points scored, thanks to a Week 1 blowout at the hands
of Arizona, 41-2.
Losing to ranked teams four games in a row, Toledo is even planning to manage a
competition to win the starting quarterback job Saturday, as Austin Dantin was benched last week for
freshman Terrance Owens. Coach Tim
Beckman will give both players time against Boise State, certainly as they have not faced a team of this
caliber yet.
Toledo averages
just 155.8 yards passing and 127.2 yards rushing per game. The rushers average only 3.3 yards per carry collectively,
and Toledo doesn't look like they
can compete with the Broncos.
#4 Boise State Broncos
(-39) (4-0 Overall)
Boise State ranks
in the top-20 in average passing and rushing yards, as well as average points
for and against. Interestingly, the
average margin of victory for the Broncos
is 30 points - including #10 Virginia
Tech and #24 Oregon State on
their schedule, who are now not ranked.
Yet the fact remains that Boise State, unlike other major powerhouses, need large victories
to have a shot at a National Championship.
At home and combined with such motivation - a 40+ point rout is
certainly not out of the question.
Boise State has
won 18 in a row and hasn't lost since September 8, 2001 at home.
Last week, when starting quarterback Kellen Moore was pulled after a touchdown pass to begin the second
half - the Broncos added 28 more to
beat New Mexico State 59-0.
Overview
Moore could have
a field day, as the Rockets are 11th
in the Mid-American Conference with 255.2 passing yards allowed per game.
Coming off of a 608-yard game offensively, Boise State should dominate in this
matchup. While a 39-point victory or
more performance is not a given, I like it much more than going against the Broncos here.
In college football betting, Boise State has won against the spread three out of four times, as
well as in regards to the over. At 39
points for the spread and a 59 ½-point total, it seems as though Boise State is ready to cover and hit
the over once again.

At about four points less than last week's spread for the Broncos - perhaps Boise State will continue to dominate and cover in their schedule.
