AT&T Park coupled with Randy Johnson and Scott Feldman tonight will be enough to keep both the Rangers and Giants under the posted total in their series opener.
Scott Feldman (5-1, 3.70 ERA) and the Texas Rangers hit the highway to face Randy Johnson (6-5, 4.89 ERA) and the San Francisco Giants this evening.
Feldman has pitched a quality start in nine of 10 assignments this season. The Under is a perfect 10-0 in all of Feldman's games this season. We can expect him to do just fine against a Giants offense that isn't exactly a powerhouse. AT&T Park also is a pitcher friendly setup that will aid Feldman and Texas tonight. The Under is 22-6 in his last 28 starts for the Rangers.
Randy Johnson is going for his sixth straight quality start. The veteran southpaw has given up just seven earned runs in his last five starts with a 2.15 ERA. He should have no problem today with Texas who is batting .149 vs. lefthanders in their last 10 games.
The Rangers average just 4.4 runs away from home this season and have never done well in San Francisco since interleague play started. In 2006, the last time Texas traveled here, all three games went under the posted total and the Rangers scored five total runs that series.
Johnson is backed by one of the strongest bullpens in baseball with Giants relievers owning a 2.95 ERA on the season. We'll play the under tonight as we expect this to be a pitching extravaganza.
