Free MLB Pick: LA Dodgers Over New York Mets in Game 2

By: | www.bigal.com
Knuckleballer Charlie Haeger gets moved up a day in the LA rotation when the Dodgers and Mets play a rain-forced doubleheader in New York on Tuesday.

In the second game of the doubleheader tonight in New York, our selection is on the Los Angeles Dodgers over the Mets.

SBR BaseballMets left-hander Oliver Perez has been extremely lucky in maintaining a 3.71 ERA through his first three starts. His last start is a perfect example, as Perez allowed all kinds of base-runners against the anemic offense of the Cubs while laboring through 97 pitches in just five innings.

Yet he escaped with just two earned runs scored against him. New York has lost each of Perez's three starts this season.

The Dodgers have had the Mets' number recently, going 5-1 in six games against them in 2009, and will hand the ball to knuckleballer Charlie Haeger for this nightcap.  He is taking Vicente Padilla's place in the rotation after Padilla hit the DL with a right forearm injury.

Haeger will be working on short rest, but should not be adversely affected, as knuckleballers don't get much stress put on their arms.  Take Los Angeles.
