Combined National and American League Play Against reports now at 15-9, making 6.74 units per one unit wagered. This includes the three game series featuring the Chicago White Sox and Toronto Blue Jays, using Toronto on the -1 ½ run line.

Buck ShowalterI added a new Play Against using the Run Line with the Toronto Blue Jays in their three game series against the White Sox, and it was a complete three game sweep. I also mentioned always to use the - 1 ½ line, even if the play is a dog on the money line as it serves to completely maximize the risk-reward profile of the situation.

In Game 1, Toronto defeated the Sox 9-5 and were installed at +100 on the money line and +180 on the -1 ½ run line. In Game 2, Toronto won again, this time by a 4-0 score installed as -122 favorites and -1 ½ +140 run line plays. In Game 3, the CWS finally defeated Toronto 4-3 with Toronto a +136 dog and the Run Line paying off better than 2:1 odds. So, for these three recommendations, Toronto went 2-1 and made 2.20 units per one unit wagered.

I have begun a weekly series that focuses on identifying teams that have reached unsustainable levels of performance and are about to embark on a series of average or below average performances. We have seen through all the years of MLB that even the best teams go through very strong dominating winning streaks and will also have some very dark times. The weaker teams will go through their own brief winning streaks, but it is certainly a red flag to begin facing a losing record team that suddenly gets on a four or more game winning streak. These are very broad statements and not specific enough to warrant any recommended plays.

Only one new name to the list and it is the Yankees moving into fifth spot in this week’s net money won rankings. The Yankees replaced the Seattle Mariners, who have gone 5-5 over ther last 10 games and have lost their last two games. The Yankees have posted a strong 8-2 over their last 10 games to draw into a tie with the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League East standings.

Baltimore remains one game back of the two AL East powerhouses and are in the midst of a very difficult schedule. They have done well in the first three series in the month of June posting a 5-4 mark against the Rays, Boston, and Phillies. They now begin a three-game set home versus the Pirates, who are trying their best to post a winning record season for the first time since 1992. With both teams on their respective net money won lists, there is simply no play against opportunities in this matchup.

The next three game set sees the Orioles travel to Atlanta and then a three game set at the Mets that would conclude next Wednesday. I am going to recommend to Play Against the Orioles in each of these six games with my personal opinion, that the Orioles will go 2-4 at best during these two series. As an option, I would consider playing on the Braves and Mets to win the series too.

I have realized that the majority of these plays, if not all of them, will have the Orioles as dogs. I don’t generally like playing favorites, but in this situation, I think the time is right to be aggressive go against the staying power of the Orioles. I just wonder how much is in the tank for this team as they start to slowly slide down the AL East division standings.
