Here we have two spot on Major League free picks to help mend the financial injuries that occurred from last night's Monday Night Football game. Let's look at the Royals vs the Tigers and the Yankees at the Twins for today's picks.
Lose some cash on that brutal beat in the NFL last night?
Don't worry we have you covered in our MLB picks of the day. We've hit our last
four in a row so don't miss out.
Kansas City at Detroit
These two teams will clash in the 2nd game of a
four game set. Detroit took Game 1, 6-2, pulling themselves 1.5 games within
the division lead. They will look to trim that deficit even further tonight
sending Anibal Sanchez (3-6 4.55 ERA) to the mound while KC counters with Bruce
Chen (11-12 5.22). Odds makers have opened Detroit a -200 favorite and the
OVER/UNDER at 8.5.
Play the OVER
Bruce Chen is another guy we like to fade for OVERS, guy is
just not fit for a full major league season as hitters figure out his junk
balling sooner or later. Chen did just shut out the White Sox but prior to that
he went 3 straight starts of giving up AT LEAST 5 earned runs, giving up 7 deep
balls over that period. Chen will be on the road tonight where he owns a crazy
high ERA of 6.28, giving up 100 hits in just 86 innings pitched, 60 earned runs
and 16 home runs. Horrific numbers.
In their last 10 games against south paws Detroit is hitting
a blistering .280 as a team, 367 .OBP and averaging nearly six runs per 9
innings.
Anibal Sanchez could be entering a cold streak
Sanchez is as streaky as they come either ice cold or red
hot. He went five straight starts without giving up more than 3 earned runs and
prior to that he had given up a combined 18 earned runs in four starts. Coming
off his most recent outing, he gave up 5 earned runs on just 6 hits, lasting
only 5 innings. See where we are going with this?
OVER is 7-2-1 in Detroits last 10.
OVER is 7-2-1 last 10 games as a favorite.
OVER is 11-5-1 in Bruce Chens last 17 road starts.
Free Pick #1: KC vs. Detroit OVER 8.5 here.
Yankees at Twins
Phil Hughes (16-12 4.05 ERA) and Esmerling Vasquez (0-2 6.78
ERA) go for their respective teams tonight with the Yankees opening up a -187
road chalk, looking to extend their lead in AL East. The OVER/UNDER has been
set at 9.
Esmerling Vasquez should not be starting pitcher in the
big leagues.
Minnesota recently picked up Esmerling from the Arizona
Diamondbacks in which he was used in a relievers role; he wasn't particularly
good at that job. Now Minnesota expects him to be a starter in the AL, against
the Yankees? Come on. As a starter at Target Field, Vasquez owns an ERA of
7.27! He's lasted a combined 8 innings in two outings, seven earned runs and
nine base on balls with 1 home run. Imagine what this Yankee lineup is going to
do to him? The Yankee line up that has woken up at the right time and put up a
combined 30 runs in their last five games.
Phil Hughes
Hughes is pitching like a bulldog right now and has been the
Yankees most consistent pitcher over the last three weeks. His fastball/cutter
has been absolutely deadly and hitters are not getting good wood on the ball at
all. Over his last three starts Hughes is 3-0, giving up just 15 hits in 18
innings pitched, with a 1.04 WHIP and 2.95 ERA. Phil is blowing hitters away at
the plate, having struck out a combined 36 hitters in his last 6 starts alone.
What we have here is a complete and utter mismatch in every
way possible. This is more of a fade on Esmerling Vasquez than anything else.
Minnesota has nobody in their rotation and are throwing this guy to the wolves. So, this will be the second addition to my MLB selections.
Free Pick # 2: Yankees
RL -1.5
Tuesday MLB Picks: KC
vs. Detroit – OVER and Yankees RL -1.5
