Detroit is beginning to look like a contender in the AL Central while Chicago's Freddy Garcia is exceeding his expectations for 2010.  Play the 'under' on Tuesday afternoon.

Our Tuesday afternoon MLB selection is on the Chicago White Sox and Detroit Tigers remaining 'under' the total at CoMerica Park.

Paul KonerkoJust when you thought the Twins were going to run away and hide in the AL Central Division, somebody is saying "not so fast." And that somebody is the Detroit Tigers.

The Tigers come into this series against the White Sox on a roll having just beaten the Boston Red Sox in two of three games and taking three of four from the Yankees in the series before that.

It's been mostly the Tigers' pitching that has come through for them as they now have the fifth best team ERA in the AL for the month of May.  Their 2.52 bullpen ERA on the season is tops in the majors.

Now if some of their starters can come through for them, then it's anyone's guess how good this team will be.

One of those starters who's trying to find consistency is right-hander Rick Porcello. The Tigers hope that Porcello's last start is the beginning of a trend as he pitched seven brilliant innings against the Yankees and now has a 2.19 ERA in his last three trips to the hill.

Chicago's veteran right-hander Freddy Garcia may be the No. 5 guy for this team on paper, but he's been pitching more like a No. 2 or No. 3 starter lately. Don't be surprised if that continues tonight as Garcia has a 16-6 career record against Detroit with a 3.76 ERA and has a 7-3 lifetime mark at Comerica Park.

The under is 12-4-1 in the last 17 meetings of these two. Take the 'under.'
