The Astros and Brewers had gone ‘under’ six straight meetings before an ‘over’ last night, and with Brewers ace Yovani Gallardo and the hot Brett Myers going here, go ‘under’ again.
Neither the Houston Astros nor the Milwaukee Brewers are going anywhere this season, but each team has a hot starter on the mound tonight that should keep each opposing offense quiet.
The bookmakers have installed a total of 7½ for this contest, with the betting odds on the ‘under’ set at -115.
The Brewers are starting their staff ace Yovani Gallardo, who is 7-3 and ranks fifth in the entire Major Leagues with his 2.36 ERA. More importantly, Gallardo may be pitching his best ball of the season right now, as he has allowed one earned run or less in five of his last six starts, including three scoreless outings and two Complete Game shutouts. Gallardo allowed just 31 hits in 44 innings 49 strikeouts over those last six starts.
Also, while Gallardo has yet to face Houston this season, he allowed two runs or less in four of his five starts against them last year, including tossing five scoreless innings and allowing only three hits the last time he faced them. Furthermore, that Astros offense was a little better than the Houston ensemble this year that is batting .235 vs. right-handed pitching

Meanwhile, Brett Myers is also quietly having a fine season for the ‘Stros, going 5-5 on a team that is 17 games under .500 with a very good 3.20 ERA. He too is in good current form, allowing two earned runs or less in five of his last seven starts, and Myers recorded a Quality Start in his only outing vs. Milwaukee this year, allowing two runs on seven hits in six innings. Also, the ‘under’ is interestingly 5-1 in his six road starts this year.
Finally, when these teams went ‘over’ here last night, it snapped a streak of six consecutive ‘unders’ in this head-to-head series, and we look for return to that ‘under’ pattern tonight.
