Where do we believe that the best MLB betting value lies today?
Pirates vs. Cardinals
5* graded play on the Cardinals
as they take on the Buccos in the final of this three-game series set to start
at 2:15 PM ET. The Pirates are seven games over .500 having won four straight
games and trail the National League Central division leading Reds by one game.
The Pirates are playing outstanding baseball having gone 7-3 over their last 10
games, but this is a matchup I just don’t see them winning this afternoon.
The Cardinals have lost three
straight games with the last two dominating losses to the Pirates. They sit in
third place in the NL Central division and trail the Reds by 3 ½ games. They
are a solid 6-4 over their last 10 games.
Supporting this graded play is a
system that has produced a record of 90-29 for 76% winners and has made 45.7
units per one unit wagered since 2006. Play on all
dogs with a money line of +125 to +175 and with a starting pitcher whose gives
up 5.5 or less hits per start with the game taking place in the July. This
system has feasted on favorites and has averaged a -152 line, which nearly matches today’s game and situations.
The Pirates are a .236 hitting
team and have been red hot over their last seven games batting /285 and scoring
an average of 6.1 runs per game. This differential of the 7-day average to the
season average has reached a ‘stretching’ point, where it is more likely that
the Pirates back more towards their season average than extending the hot
Cards starter Westbrook
The Pirates will struggle against
Westbrook today. He has posed a 2.14 ERA and a 0.905 WHIP walking just three
batters and allowing one home run over his last three starts spanning 21
innings of work.
Pirates Erik Bedard
Bedard is not pitching well at
all and has posted a 7.05 ERA with a 1.696 WHIP with an 0-3 record over his
last three starts. He is not striking out enough batters having record just 11
k’s spanning his last 15 1/3 innings. St. Louis is a solid hitting team and
they will have the luxury to work the count to their favor and sit on Bedard’s
below average fastball.
My Pick: Take the Cardinals for a 5*
White Sox vs. Yankees
5* graded play on the Chicago
White Sox as they take on the New York Yankees set to start at 2:05 PM ET. The
Yankees are struggling right now and they have failed to distance themselves
from the rest of the contenders in the American League East entering the
upcoming all star break. The second place Orioles picked up the perfect match
for their DH power outage acquiring Jim Thome from Philadelphia for two minor
league prospects. Thome ranks seventh on the all-time home run list with 607
and is a great veteran teammate for the Orioles to have on their roster. The
Yankees need to pay attention.
The White Sox have been red hot going 6-1 over
their last seven games and have not yet reached a level of performance where I
feel they could fall flat. They face right-handed Gavin Floyd, who has posted a
2.50 ERA and a 1.222 WHIP striking out 18 batters in his last three start
spanning 18 innings of work. He has not allowed an earned run in his last two
starts spanning 13 ? innings of work.
I strongly believe he will dominate
the Yankees in this start, so I am adding a White Sox win to my MLB picks today.
My Pick: Take the White Sox
