The San Francisco Giants moved to 4-1 in the first five games of their present road trip with Tuesday’s 4-2 victory as 196 underdogs against the St. Louis Cardinals. Where should we place our MLB picks in the final two games of this series?

Thursday – 1:45 p.m. (ET): Wainwright (9-10, 4.03 ERA) vs Bumgarner (12-6, 3.03 ERA)

Madison BumgarnerWainwright went the nine-inning distance in Saturday’s 6-1 win for the Cardinals against Milwaukee, collecting as a hefty 198 home favorite. The Georgia native gave up five hits en route to recording seven strikeouts, with Milwaukee’s sole run coming in the first inning.

Madison Bumgarner also notched a victory Saturday with San Francisco’s 11-6 triumph as a 152 road favorite in Colorado. The 23-year-old gave up one run over six innings, while holding the Rockies to five hits in that span.

May’s two-game set in San Francisco saw both starters pick up losses in their respective outings, giving up a combined nine runs over 13 IP. Wainwright allowed six hits and four walks, while Bumgarner was torched for a homer by St. Louis’ David Freese as part of seven hits.

Bumgarner has gone on to give up eight homers over his last four road starts (24 IP), helping OVER backers collect at 3-1. Wainwright has seen the OVER cash at 6-4 in his 10 daytime outings, while having to face some hot foes here like Angel Pagan, who has two long balls and a triple over his last five games (10-for-22).

Wednesday's MLB Pick

Yesterday, Giants' catcher Buster Posey got his squad off to an early 3-0 lead with a homer in the first inning, while reliever Jeremy Affeldt closed the final 1 1/3 frames for his third save of the year.

Wednesday night has the series resuming with St. Louis’ Joe Kelly opposing San Francisco’s Ryan Vogelsong in a duel of right-handed starters. Thursday afternoon’s finale has Giants southpaw Madison Bumgarner slated to face Cardinals righty Adam Wainwright.

ryan VogelsongJoin me as I breakdown each of these matchups and share my MLB picks for both Tuesday and Wednesday's battles. Will the Giants' pitching staff be able to hold the Cardinals at bay, or will the Cardinals keep the home fans happy?

Wednesday – 8:15 p.m. (ET): Kelly (2-4, 3.14 ERA) vs Vogelsong (9-5, 2.38 ERA)

Kelly logged his first win in seven starts with Friday’s 9-3 victory for St. Louis as a 149 MLB odds favorite against the Milwaukee Brewers. The rookie gave up three runs on 10 hits, lasting 5 2/3 innings.

Friday’s card also saw Vogelsong on the right end of San Francisco’s 16-4 spanking against the Colorado Rockies, cashing as 145 road ‘chalk.’ The 35-year-old allowed all four of Colorado’s runs in a 6 1/3-inning stint, while tossing seven strikeouts.

Vogelsong faced the Cardinals once last season, giving up one run over five innings. St. Louis’ Rafael Furcal and Yadier Molina have been held without any extra base hits in a combined 3-for-13 lifetime stretch against the veteran.

Look for Vogelsong to come up with another stingy outing here at a plus price, with San Francisco adding another cashed ticket to its 6-2 mark in the hurler’s last eight road outings.

MLB Pick: Giants, Vogelsong (ML)
