We're coming off a 2-0 day, and will look to keep
the winning streak going today with an MLB Parlay that includes the Phillies and the Brewers, two teams making a
major run at the playoffs. Do we tail these surging teams in our MLB picks and parlay of the day?
Braves vs. Brewers
Don't look know but the Milwaukee Brewers are making a huge
post season push. After looking like they had no shot the entire year, the Brew
Crew have pulled themselves to .500 (71-71) and are just four games out of a
NL Wild Card Spot. Milwaukee, winners of 17 of their last 22, will be looking to
sweep the now struggling Braves who have dropped 2 straight in Milwaukee.
The Brewer offense has been on fire their last ten games,
hitting .260 as a team with a .333 OBP and averaging close to six runs per nine
innings. They are lead by Ryan Braun, of course, who is now hitting .311 with
38 HR and 100 RBI, backed up by Aramis Ramirez who is on an absolute tear, raising his average to .296
with 22 HR and 90 driven in for the year.
Meanwhile, the Braves are seeing bee-bees at the plate. If
you throw out the game against the lowly Mets in which they dropped 11 runs on
rookie Jeremy Hefner, Atlanta has not scored more than three runs in their last
7 games.
The struggling Atlanta offense will have their hands full
with Yovani Gallardo, who is pitching great at the moment. YO is coming off a
start in which he went 6 strong innings, giving up 2 earned runs while striking
out 6, and lowering his ERA to 3.76 on the year. Gallardo has struck out 182
batters on the year, which is significant considering the Braves are high strikeout squad, whiffing nearly 8 times per game in their last ten games.
At the low MLB odds price of -133, we just can't pass up Milwaukee
here; they are playing loose as can be, their offense is on fire, their ace is on the mound and, most all, they're looking to extend their push. The Braves, on the other hand, are pressing; perhaps the same doubt that spelled disaster last year is starting to creep into their minds again.
Pick: Milwaukee -133
Marlins vs. Phillies
It can't get any more ironic than the positions Milwaukee
and Philadelphia are in right now. Just like the Brewers, the Phillies looked
dead in the water not to long ago but not so fast. Philadelphia is on a huge
run now at .500 (71-71) and are tied with the Brewers for the fourth spot in
the NL Wild Card race. What a fitting name, “Wild Card”. Philadelphia has
ripped off 9 of their last 10. Their horses on the mound are finally out and
running, not looking back. The Phillies have benefited from great starting
pitching with a team total ERA of 2.91 in their last 10 games, holding the
opposition to hitting just .223 while striking out almost ten per game!
Cliff Lee will take the mound looking to shut down a dysfunctional Miami ballclub now 17 games under .500 for the year. Lee
has been outstanding his last three starts, going 2-0 with a 1.33 ERA and
deadly 1.03 WHIP. The fish will counter with a struggling Josh Johnson, who has
an ERA of 4.50 in his last three starts.
We have seen this type of push from the Philadelphia
Phillies before, and when they are rolling like this, they are a freight train
that nobody wants to get in the way of. Miami just wants to pack it in and get
the season over with while the Phils are chomping at the bit to get out there
and play more baseball, reaching their goal of the post season.
Odds makers have opened up Philly a -155 favorite which is a
complete steal the way the are playing right now and how pathetic Miami is.
Parlaying these two teams for 100$ would pay
us 180$, and we just can not pass that up right now. We will also being playing
each side straight up. Good luck everybody!
