With Raul Ibanez and Eric Chavez touching up the Mets bullpen, the Yanks tied the series last night. In tonight’s rubber match, aces C.C. Sabathia and R.A. Dickey square off. Do we have enough faith in R.A. to place him and the Mets in our MLB picks of the day?

RA Dickey should start the NL side of the All Star game

There hasn’t been a run of pitching in Queens like this since Doc Gooden. Dickey has not given up a run in 42 innings plus. On national TV last night, FOX showed an incredible stat: in his last 6 starts, R.A. is 6-0 with an ERA of 0.18! He's strikeout to walk ratio is an incredible 63 to 6 over those six games. I mean, this is just unheard of in the majors. Dickey is the first pitcher to reach 11 wins this season with a record of 11-1; his overall ERA is a rock solid 2.00. He has struck out a league leading 103 batters to just 21 walks in 100 innings pitched. What is so incredible, is the low walk rate; as we all know, Dickey throws a knuckleball, most knuckleballers don’t even know where the ball is going to end up when they let it go. Well, Dickey must have found something out, because he certainly knows his is going to end up in the strike zone. What makes Dickey more efficient than any other knuckleballer, is that he throws his around 75 mph, very fast for a baseball that is wobbling every which way. I mean, when we are talking about Major League hitters not being able to touch him for a run in 42 plus innings - it's just mind blowing!

NY MetsThis is the Mets time to show the Yankees they are the talk of the town

For years now, the Yankees have dominated talk sports in New York while the Mets have been an afterthought. It wasn’t always that way; in the 80's and early 90's the Mets OWNED New York. They won’t get all of that back with a victory tonight, but they can show the town - and the world - that they are actually relevant and worth talking about again. They are set up in a perfect spot here; it is theirs for the taking. All they have to do is reach out and grab it. Show the Yankees that they and R.A. Dickey are something special, a force to be reckoned with and no longer the little step brother to the big bad New York Yankees.

Terry Collins shouldn’t have to worry about the Yankees touching up his bullpen

The Mets' bullpen almost blew game one, then, just like we predicted in our write up yesterday, they blew game two. That shouldn’t be an issue here; as most baseball fans know, Dickey is coming off back-to-back complete game one hitters. In his past 7 starts, Dickey has gone into the 7th inning, and with the way he is absolutely tearing it up right now, it would be a incredible if he didn’t go deep into this game.

This is way too good of a value to pass up for us. You are going to give us plus money, backing a pitcher who hasn’t given up an earned run in 42 inning! Are the odds makers insane? The Mets have already shown as a team this isn’t too big of a stage, so they should have no problems with their All Star on the hill tonight while they reach out and take what is rightfully theirs and win this series and show New York the Mets are back!

After the Mets opened as -120 home favorites, MLB betting has produced a reversal of fortune; the Yankees are currently favored at -135. The total has dropped since opening to 6.5.

New York Mets are our MLB Pick of the Day. Our overall record is now 42-38. Good luck everybody!
