Stay Under 8½ as Cubs visit Reds

Randy Wells has yet to have a bad start for the Cubs since coming to the majors, hurling five Quality Starts. Bronson Arroyo has turned his season around and he has always done well vs. the Cubs. Go Under in the Queen City.

The young Randy Wells will be making his sixth career start this afternoon for the Chicago Cubs against Bronson Arroyo and the Cincinnati Reds.

Wells has been rock solid, pitching five Quality Starts this season while giving up a total of just six earned runs. He owns a 1.69 ERA, a 27/7 strikeout-to-walks ratio, and an amazing 0.97 WHIP. We look for his success to continue against a Reds lineup that has been struggling against right-handed pitchers of late.

Since losing the bat of slugger Joey Votto they have struggled putting up runs on the scoreboard and it shouldn't be different today. The Reds batters won't be familiar with his stuff and we can expect him to work deep into this game.

The Reds Bronson Arroyo has been tough to hit in his last three starts and has quality starts in three of his last four outings. Arroyo is showing improvement after a shaky start to the season. In his last three starts he has a 2.82 ERA giving up just seven earned runs and a solid 0.99 WHIP.

In the past three seasons Arroyo has done well vs. the Cubs giving up just eight earned runs in three starts hosting them at Great American Ballpark. Arroyo should continue his success of late as he starts to gain confidence as the season progresses.

This should be a pitchers duel and we'll play Under 8½.

Free Pick: Cubs, Reds Under 8½ (-103)
