Thank God for baseball! Who would have thought that MLB is now the only major U.S. sport providing us with daily sports betting opportunities? At least we’ve got the “Field of Dreams” to help us navigate the wagering waters.

We’ll take a look back at the previous week’s winners and losers in MLB and see which teams and plays ended up helping the house or the players.

Josh Hamilton Batter Texas RangersHere’s the sports betting recap for the week of June 20-26 which, not to spoil the ending, was a nice one for the players.

Monday, June 20. The big wins for the players came thanks to four public favorites; Dodgers, Angels, Rangers and Yankees. The house came back with wins in the Chicago Cubs and Tampa Bay Rays games in a day that was pretty much a push between the house and the baseball bettors. There was one game on Monday that Bob Harvey liked that ended up being a winner and good for you if you tailed him here.

Tuesday, June 21. Thank you, Roy Halladay. The good doctor didn’t let us down as the Phillies (-68) cashed as did the run line. To be fair, Halladay only worked the first six innings and got a no-decision. Thanks to a nine-run, eighth inning rally Philadelphia spanked St. Louis 10-2 getting the job done on the RL (Phillies and Red Sox are in the midst of an interleague series at time of writing). The Rockies, Padres and White Sox also ended up in the player’s column for the day. There’s still a lot of love for Mat Latos of the Padres even though his numbers are down from a year ago.

The house battled back with the Pirates, Marlins, A’s and the Houston Astros run line. Overall though the day belonged to the players and for that we can thank Halladay and that eight-run inning.

Wednesday, June 22. Wednesday started out on a rough note for the house as the public, and rightfully so, hammered the Phillies and Cliff Lee. Players also correctly picked the Atlanta Braves -50, Tampa Bay Rays -15, Detroit Tigers -12, and Cleveland Indians -40. The house fought back with the Padres +95, Athletics -14, and Astros +85 but came up short as the players prevailed for a third straight day. Again if you had been playing the Phillies then you marched strongly behind General Lee;

Thursday, June 23. This time round there was different tune and the players faded the Phillies and managed to cash with the Cardinals (-15). They also won with the Mets -42 and the Diamondbacks -18.  The house picked up a win on the Nationals +10 but lost more ground as the players stretched their lead for the week. It seems many of us were feeling the love for Arizona on Thursday:

Friday June 24. It was a break even day for the House. Players picked up victories with the Rockies, Rangers, Rays, and the Brewers. The house picked up wins on the Pirates (+65), Nationals (+12), and Jays (-19) to stay even for the day but still behind for the week.

Saturday, June 25. Players were cashing throughout the day on teams like the Braves (-44), White Sox (-68), the Tigers and the incredible Mr. Verlander at -205. The house made a nice rally pulling back some profits with the Mets, A’s and Pirates. It was a wash, give or take, and it headed down to a make or break Sunday.

Sunday, June 26. What was that about playing the Phillies? They did it again winning with a big betting odds of -250 and cashing several tickets on the run line. My favorite game and win of the day was on the Dodgers over the Angels. Getting Clayton Kershaw at -110 was a gift.

Bottom line; The House got some unexpected wins as did the players and when the numbers were tallied it proved to be a nice week for the players.

As always, good luck to the players and we’ll talk next week.
