Busch got his start in 2000 in the Cup series, finishing 48th. In 2004, he won the first Nextel Cup after a close call in 2002. Busch is not a stranger to controversy, as he was part of a famous confrontation with Jimmy Spencer in 2003, he was dropped by Roush Racing after an alleged drunk-driving incident in 2005.
