The Denver Nuggets have logged a 2-5 spread mark in the first seven dates of their present homestand, putting up 103.6 PPG. George Karl’s club continues the stretch at Pepsi Center with Monday’s matchup against the Dallas Mavericks, who have seen the ‘over’ cash at 5-0 in their last five games.

Sportsbooks opened Denver as a four-point favorite, while first setting the ‘total’ at 201.5. The spread remains unchanged at this time, but NBA betting action has lifted the total to 202.5. The Nuggets are 1-2 ATS in their three meetings against Dallas, with the ‘over’ going 2-1.

Nuggets hold off Celtics

Mavericks vs. NuggetsDenver logged its seventh win in 10 games with Saturday’s 98-91 victory as six-point home ‘chalk’ against the Boston Celtics. The Nuggets led by as many as 17 points, while sizably outrebounding Boston, 46-27.

Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried piled in 18 points and 16 boards, connecting a perfect 5-of-5 from the field and 8-of-8 at the foul line. Denver’s Ty Lawson logged 10 of his squad’s 26 assists, while mate Danilo Gallinari notched a team-high 20 points.

The contest’s combined 189 points dipped below the ‘total’ of 198 ½, making the ‘under’ 2-0 since the Nuggets dealt center Nene to the Washington Wizards as part of the league’s recent trading deadline. Denver outscored the Celtics in fast break points, 21-6, while connecting 7-of-20 buckets beyond the arc.

Mavs top Spurs in shootout

Dallas notched its third straight victory in Saturday’s 106-99 triumph as a three-point home favorite against the San Antonio Spurs. The Dallas Mavericks never trailed, while shooting 46.8 percent from the field.

Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki logged a team-high 27 points, including a 7-for-7 night from the charity stripe. Dallas’ Jason Kidd finished with 14 points and 10 assists, giving the veteran his first double-double of the year.

The high-octane affair’s combined 205 points leaped above the ‘total’ of 198 ½. Both squads united to drain 22-of-48 from three-point land, while Dallas edged out the Spurs in boards, 48-35.

Back Denver as the home ‘chalk’

Monday’s tip is slated for 10:30 p.m. (ET), with TNT providing the national television coverage as the back end of a doubleheader. The pair of foes both have one day off following the duel, with Denver finishing its stretch at home against the Detroit Pistons and Dallas heading back to American Airlines Center to host the Los Angeles Lakers.

I am adding Denver to my NBA picks, laying the low premium in this spot. The Nuggets have held their own without Nene’s presence, while Gallinari is now back to peak form following his recent ankle injury.

Lawson and Co. have shot 47.2 percent from their home floor, while Faried’s impressive outing against the Celtics should spark the rest of his mates with another marquee foe in town. Nuggets center Timofey Mozgov quietly connected 4-of-6 field buckets in Saturday’s affair, uniting with veteran Al Harrington for 19 points.

Dallas is 1-6 ATS in its last seven road dates, with the Nuggets’ lengthy homestand making it an even tougher spot for Rick Carlisle’s crew. The Mavericks have notched a sparse 91.7 PPG away on the road, with the wear and tear of this type of season likely to show itself more than usual here.

Look for the Nuggets to bounce back from two straight defeats against Dallas, cashing tickets en route to picking up ground in the tight Western Conference standings.
