We want to bring this game early to you and that means the
odds aren’t out yet. The Clippers are finally a healthy team with CP3 back in the
lineup and I’ll venture a guess and say that the New York Knicks are about a 3
to 5 point betting favorite.
With of all of the injuries that the Clippers have endured,
they’ve dropped in the Western Conference race. Chris Paul will need time to
return to his old form. Will it be enough to knock of the Knicks at MSG?
Melo For MVP?
He’s not the current favorite to win the award with LBJ in
the league, but aside from James, nobody’s more important to their respective
team than Carmelo Anthony is to the Knicks. The Knicks have been on a major hot
streak, winning 6 out of their last 7 games, and a major reason for this is the
play of Carmelo Anthony.
Although the numbers are still there, Melo has found a way
to co-exist with Amare’ Stoudemire coming off of the bench and has made some
nice feeds to Amare. Melo has been extra hot as of late. In his last 2 games,
he’s averaging 33.5 points and 9 rebounds.
We all know that Anthony isn’t afraid to shoot the ball and
against a full Clippers roster, expect him to be the main focus of the offense
while being effective.
The Knicks are a strong home team and that will pose a
problem for the Clips.

Out of Sync Offense
With all of the injuries that Los Angeles Clippers have had
to endure, it was expected for them to drop back in the pack a bit. They’ve won
just 3 out of their last 10 games.
Chris Paul played his 1st game since returning
from injury and it was a very unsuccessful return. Not only did the Clippers
get blown out by 22 points against the Miami Heat, Paul played just 20 minutes
and had 3 points and 2 assists. Eric Bledsoe was running the point really well
when he started, but he’s been pushed to the bench; This is Chris Paul’s team.
If CP3 puts in another poor effort, you might see a little
more of Bledsoe in this game.
Blake Griffin
Blake Griffin also returned after missing two games and he
came up with 13 points and 5 rebounds. This is a player with all of the tools,
but when you watch, he appears to lack confidence at times.
I distinctly remember watching him against the Celtics
(Rondo’s 1st game out) and Blake looked somewhat lost. With Griffin,
you have a player with supernatural athletic ability that’s not a great
shooter, and lacks a basketball I.Q.
Once CP3 shrugs off the rust, this will be a better team and
Blake Griffin will benefit from this. For now, Griffin will have a difficult
time facing defensive oriented players like Tyson Chandler.
Outcome
Although the Clippers are a tough team, things will take
time to gel again. New York has been playing exceptional basketball as of late
and this is a good spot for them at home, against a team that has yet to regain
its swag. Take them for one of your NBA picks today.
