Tuesday’s WNBA betting slate has three key interconference
matchups scheduled. The card features the Los Angeles Sparks
continuing their east coast road trip against the Connecticut Sun.
Los Angeles enters Mohegan Sun Arena with a 0-3 spread record in
its last three games, while the
Sun are 2-1 ATS in their first three home
dates in the 2011 WNBA season.
8 p.m. (ET): Los Angeles Sparks at Connecticut Sun (-5, Total: 154)
The Sparks picked up a second straight loss in Sunday’s 77-67
defeat as one-point road favorites in the betting odds against the New York Liberty. Jennifer
Gillom’s club could not recover from a 41-33 halftime deficit, while connecting
a meager 38.7 percent of their field buckets.
Connecticut returns home after Saturday’s 75-70 loss as 3 ½-point
road dogs against the Indiana Fever. The Sun went a perfect
13-for-13 at the foul line, while center Tina Charles notched a double-double
with 12 points and 11 boards.
Sparks forward Candace Parker (17.7 PPG, 9.9 RPG) left Sunday’s
game early and is now out indefinitely with a knee injury. The loss
of Parker makes it an easy choice to lay the points at home with Connecticut,
who is 5-2 ATS in their last seven home meetings against Los Angeles.
7 p.m. (ET): Phoenix Mercury at Indiana Fever (-4, Total: 173 ½)
Two hot squads meet at Conseco Fieldhouse, with the Phoenix
Mercury visiting the Indiana Fever. Phoenix has won four straight
with a 4-0 spread record, while Indiana has notched three straight wins at 3-0
ATS.
June 19’s recent duel between these foes saw Phoenix pull off a
93-89 overtime win as a three-point home favorite in the basketball betting. The Mercury
trailed by as many as 14 points, with forward Candice Dupree scorching Indiana
for 21 points and 18 rebounds.
Phoenix’ latest triumph came in Saturday’s 86-78 victory as a
four-point road dog against the Chicago Sky. Mercury guard Diana
Taurasi (20.3 PPG) notched a team-high 23 points, while her mate Penny Taylor
logged seven assists.
Indiana rallied from behind in Sunday’s 78-75 win as a seven-point
road dog against the Minnesota Lynx. The Fever outscored the Lynx,
22-15, in the fourth quarter, with Indiana’s Katie Douglas logging team-highs
of 22 points and eight boards.
The ‘under’ is 2-1 in the last three battles between these rivals
hosted by the Fever. Phoenix’ normally high-octane unit has won its
last two games with defense, holding its foes to 80.5 PPG.
In WNBA handicapping, take the ‘under’ here as the revenge-minded Fever should tighten
up even more than usual at home, where Lin Dunn’s squad has allowed a stingy
70.5 PPG.
8 p.m. (ET): San Antonio Silver Stars at Chicago Sky (-3, Total:
160 ½)
The San Antonio Silver Stars and Chicago Sky have brought in the
cash this year, with San Antonio going 6-1 ATS in its first seven games and
Chicago notching a 5-2 spread mark in its last seven
contests. Chicago hosts San Antonio as part of Tuesday’s league
slate, completing a three-game homestand.
Sky center Sylvia Fowles notched a team-high of 28 points in
Saturday’s loss to Phoenix, while adding four steals. Fowles and her
mates were edged out in rebounds, 40-29.
San Antonio began its three-game road swing with Sunday’s 92-86
victory as 2 ½-point road dogs against the Atlanta Dream in the WNBA lines. Silver
Stars guard Becky Hammon logged a team-high six assists, while her squad’s
bench notably united for 58 points.
Chicago is 3-0 SU and ATS in its last three meetings against the
Silver Stars, while going 4-1 ATS in its last five home duels against San
Antonio. Lay the points with the Sky, who have a 5-1 spread record in
their last six games that followed a defeat.
