Betting Odds

Can the Gators repeat the performance of their school football brethren a couple weeks ago by going into Tallahassee and coming home with a rivalry victory? Or can the 'Noles exact a measure of revenge for their FSU football brothers by knocking Florida from the ranks of college basketball's unbeaten? Speaking of Florida, USF is a part of our picks of the day!\

Gators-'Noles Game Set-Up

Florida, with three starters back from a 26-11 team of last year, is off to a 6-0 start to this season, which includes convincing victories over Wisconsin and Marquette. Last Thursday the Gators shot 51 percent from the floor in pounding the Warriors – errr, Eagles – 82-49.

Florida has been starting three seniors and two juniors this year, led by an all-senior back-court in Kenny Boynton and Mike Rosario.

Florida State, meanwhile, with just one starter back from a team that went 25-10 last year, is off to a sputtering 4-3 start to this season. The 'Noles opened with a loss to South Alabama, then won four in a row, beating BYU and St. Joseph's along the way. But FSU then lost at home to Minnesota 77-68 in a game that wasn't as close as the final score might indicate, and last Sunday the Seminoles shot just 35 percent from the floor in getting upset at home by Mercer 61-56.

FSU has, for the most part, been starting a senior, three juniors and a freshman, led by senior G Michael Snaer. But while Snaer, who's thrown in some clutch big hoops in his time with the 'Noles, is leading the team in scoring at 14 PPG, he's also got more turnovers than assists.

On the injury front Florida F Erik Murphy, who's averaging 12 points and four boards per game and almost single-handedly beat Wisconsin by going 10-for-10 from the field, is dealing with a sore hip, and is uncertain for Wednesday's game.

Statistically Speaking

By the numbers these two teams are fairly similar. State is shooting just under 48 percent from the floor this season, Florida 47 percent; the 'Noles are shooting 39 percent from 3-point land, the Gators 36 percent; and FSU is shooting 72 percent from the FT line, Florida 70 percent.

At the other end of the court Florida has held opponents to just 35 percent FG shooting, while the 'Noles have held foes to 41 percent from the floor.

Gators-'Noles Recent History

Florida has beaten Florida State three times in a row. Last year the Gators dumped the 'Noles 82-64.

Gators-'Noles Betting Lines and Trends

Most NCAA basketball betting outlets we shopped Wednesday morning, opened this game with Florida favored by four points, with a total of right around 136. In the early betting the Gators had been bumped to -5 and even 5.5 at some shops.

Florida State can also be had around +200 on the various moneylines to win this game outright.

Florida State is 4-0 on the OVER/UNDERS this season, in part because after averaging just under 70 PPG last season, the 'Noles are averaging 75 PPG, and allowing six PPG more, than last season.

Gators-'Noles Free NCAAB Pick

Florida is off and rolling this season, while FSU has struggled. But our guess is Coach Hamilton has been riding rough on his troops the last few days after that home loss to Mercer. While we tend to go with the more experienced team in spots like this… we'll take the Seminoles as home dogs

Free Picks:  FSU +5.5 points at Pinnacle.
