The Stanford Cardinals play host to the Brigham Young Cougars. Find out where we believe the best value lies for tonights matchup!

The Brigham Young Cougars fell a bucket shy of cashing in Friday’s opener against the Weber State Wildcats, notching an 81-72 win as 9 ½-point home favorites. Dave Rose’s squad heads west for Monday’s NCAAB betting card, visiting the Stanford Cardinal.

Brigham Young’s Tyler Haws and Matt Carlino united for 50 points in Friday’s victory, hitting 19-of-43 field buckets. Haws added a team-high 13 boards, while Carlino grabbed two of his side’s four steals.

Cougars forward Eric Mika was held to seven points in his debut, with three blocks and five rebounds added. Mika’s mate Kyle Collinsworth logged a team-high six assists en route to a double-double, finishing with 11 points and 10 boards.

BYU sank 14-of-20 free throws, holding Weber State to a 39.4 percent night of field shooting. Haws combined with guard Anson Winder to drain 2-of-4 buckets beyond the arc, while junior Nate Austin came away with just two points in 26 minutes of action.

Cardinal, Powell edge Bucknell

Stanford opened its season on the same night’s card, with a 72-68 victory over the Bucknell Bison. The Cardinal found themselves in a tougher fight than expected, despite connecting from the floor at a 48.1 percent clip.

Cardinal forward Dwight Powell notched 17 points and 12 rebounds, while adding a team-high five assists. Stanford’s Anthony Brown and Aaron Bright united to hit 4-of-7 shots from three-point land, finishing with a combined 21 points.

The Cardinal edged out Bucknell in boards, 38-32, while senior Josh Huestis registered two of Stanford’s four blocks. Cardinal guard Chasson Randle logged an 8-for-9 night at the foul line, leading his side’s scoring with 18 points.

Back BYU as a road dog

Bet365 opened the NCAA Basketball odds for Stanford as a 5 ½-point home favorite, with the number holding steady in early NCAAB betting action.

I am adding BYU as a road dog to Monday’s card of NCAA Basketball picks, looking for the Cougars to give Stanford another close contest at Maples Pavilion.

Stanford could not pull away from the Bison, allowing four of Bucknell’s five starters to reach double figures. The Cardinal began last year with a 0-3 spread record in their first trio of affairs as home ‘chalk,’ including a surprising 70-62 defeat to the Belmont Bruins.

Brigham Young had as much as a 20-point lead in its opener, while continuing to answer back in second half runs from Weber State. Haws and Collinsworth should see their share of rebounds again here on the road, with Haws looking poised to repeat as last year’s top scorer in the West Coast Conference (20.9 PPG).

Nate Austin had a quiet opener of scoring for the Cougars, but grabbed nearly double the boards of last year’s campaign – filling the void for Brandon Davies’ departure to the NBA. Matt Carlino also remains an unsung weapon for BYU, logging top-three numbers last year in the WCC for steals.

Brigham Young finished last season’s march with a 4-1-1 ATS mark in its final six matchups against clubs with winning records, while Stanford logged a 0-4 spread record in its most recent four battles outside of the Pacific-12. Look for BYU to notch another cashed ticket here, building momentum to next weekend’s CBE Classic in Provo.
