The Memphis Tigers are perfect on a neutral floor this season,
but that’ll likely change after facing the Florida Gators Tuesday night.
Let’s take a closer look at the NCAA basketball lines for this
non-conference matchup in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden, with
the opening tip scheduled for 9:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
A tough schedule
Both of Florida’s losses have come in true road games versus
current top-10 teams, while it comes off an impressive 67-61 victory over the
Kansas Jayhawks as three-point home favorites a week ago.
Under head coach Billy Donovan, the Gators have compiled a 4-3 SU
record when playing at this venue, while also going 9-10 ATS on a neutral floor
the last two-plus seasons.
Memphis has won six games in a row since suffering its only loss
of the season on the road to the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Nov. 19, which
includes a 73-59 victory over Arkansas-Little Rock last Friday.
The Tigers have won all three of their games on a neutral floor,
with all of those triumphs coming in Orlando, Fl., to ultimately capture the
2013 Old Spice Classic championship.
The Gators are worthy betting favorites in the market, but it’s
important to point out that only four scholarship players have played in all
nine games this season.
Florida will need a big game from point guards Kasey Hill and
Scottie Wilbekin, considering that Memphis ranks in the top 10 nationally in
Dominating the SEC
College basketball handicappers will find that the Tigers are 19-7
SU in their last 26 games versus Southeastern Conference opponents, but they
haven’t faced the Gators since 1976.
Four probable starters are averaging in double figures, with
senior guard Joe Jackson leading the way in scoring 15.0 points a contest.
I’m going to recommend that readers back the Gators as one of
their NCAA basketball picks, as the Tigers are 16-20 ATS versus teams that
allow 64 or less points per game the last two-plus seasons.
