Check out the NCAA Basketball picks we are liking the most for today's college basketball action.
Finally! I knew it was only a matter of time before we
returned to form with our NCAA Basketball picks, and a nice day yesterday was a great way to start the week.
Let's hope this is the beginning of another hot run as I do
like some of the NCAA basketball odds that the sportsbooks have tap for us today. Seven
different ranked teams will be playing and I feel there's some solid sports betting
value out there to exploit.
Virginia (17-3 SU, 10-5 ATS) vs. Clemson (11-9 SU, 4-11
ATS)
Tipoff at 7:00 PM EST
You've got to like what the Cavaliers are bringing to the
table this season. They've lost only three games and are a nice 10-1 SU in
their own building.
Senior forward Mike Scott, a homegrown talent, has been the
clear driving force for Virginia, averaging 16.7 points and 8.2 rebounds thus
far. He's failed to score in double figures just twice this season.
The Cavaliers' stingy defense is allowing just 50.6 PPG this
season and that number falls below 50 when you look at their performances at
home. Nonetheless, I feel nine points is too many in this spot and that Clemson
will steal the cover.
While the Tigers aren't the flashiest team out there, they
rarely get dominated. They haven't lost by more than seven points in over five
weeks and have actually won two straight entering tonight's clash.
Led by two senior guards and two junior forwards, Clemson
unquestionably has the experience out there to compete with the ranked
Cavaliers. This spread is just a little too high in my opinion and as such I'm
taking the pups to cash in this matchup.
PICK: Clemson Tigers +8.5
Arkansas (15-6 SU, 5-7-1 ATS) vs. Vanderbilt (16-5 SU,
9-8 ATS)
Tipoff at 9:00 PM EST
The red-hot Commodores have broken into the Top 25 and will
look to stay there as they visit Mike Anderson's Arkansas Razorbacks tonight.
At the moment sportsbooks list Vanderbilt as the 2.5-point road favorites.
In an earlier picks article I went over Anderson's
philosophy and how he likes to get his teams to play at a furious pace on both
ends of the court. This could play into Vanderbilt's favor as they are adept at
finding open shooters in transition.
And what great shooters the Commodores have. John Jenkins
has one of the best shooting strokes in the SEC and is averaging 20 points per
game, while Jeffery Taylor has been scoring at a good clip as well.
Now that Festus Ezeli is playing his best ball of the
season, the Commodores are going to be hard to handle for the remainder of the
season. However, given Arkansas's strong play at home, I'm going to shy away
from a pick on the spread.
As an alternative, I'm going with the OVER to cash for us
tonight. It's a trend that's cashed in eight of the last nine meetings between
these two squads, so why not one more? The Razorbacks are scoring 77.6 PPG at
home this season and the Commodores have the personnel to keep pace.
PICK: OVER 142.5
