See which NCAA basketball picks and odds we are after for today’s Sweet 16 games.

After a 72-hour hiatus from the action, the men’s NCAA Tournament is back with the first half of the Sweet 16. Eight teams are in action tonight, fighting for four of the final eight spots in the tournament. See what two games I have my eye on to give you some nice value heading into the weekend.

Wisconsin vs Syracuse

Wisconsin vs. SyracuseThe Orange are trying to keep their number one seed alive as the face off against Big Ten powerhouse Wisconsin in the Sweet 16. Despite being without center Fab Melo, the Orange and their zone defense have still had two very nice tournament wins. They did get scared by 16th seed UNC-Ashville in the first round, and then took care of Frank Martin’s Kansas State in the second round (or third, however this new tournament structure works) 75-59.

On the other side, the Badgers blew out Montana in the first round and then snuck by Vanderbilt in the next round, 60-57. Even though all the number one seeds are still alive and well heading into Thursday and Friday’s games, most, including me, seem to think that one or more will not be heading to the Elite 8, and there is a growing number of people who think that the Badgers have what it takes to knock out number one seeded Syracuse, since they are down their starting center.

Alas, I am not one of those who think this. In fact, I think the college basketball lines are giving bettors extremely good sports betting value, seeing that the Orange are only favored by -3.5.

A bulk of Wisconsin’s scoring comes from the post, and they are not a very good three point shooting team. Jim Boeheim’s zone forces teams to become a jump shooting team. The 2-3 zone is killer against good post teams. They are also able to pressure out of it, something that will put a lot of ball pressure on point guard Jordan Taylor for Wisconsin. Long story short, I like the Orange to advance against the Badgers, and cover the points.

My Pick: Orange -3.5

Florida vs Marquette

The late game from Phoenix, Arizona features the 7th seeded Florida Gators, taking on the 3rd seeded Marquette Golden Eagles. The Gators have dominated and eaten all competition in front of them so far this tournament. They beat Virginia by 26 points and then dominated Norfolk State by 34 points. The Golden Eagles on the other hand have had some much tougher games. They beat BYU in the first round and then had a tough grind out win against my Murray State Racers.

Now these two get to run up one another to try and get to the final eight. Let me start by saying this, Florida is not a 7th seed. They are way too good and very undervalued here. They are more like a 4 or 5 seed. The Gators are one of the better scoring teams in the country and I think that Murray State mapped out a blue print on how you play Marquette. You face guard Darius Johnson-Odom and turn Jae Crowder into a jump shooter. Florida will do this and I see them coming out with a win here. They should not be underdogs in this spot. This NCAA Basketball betting odds should be closer to a pick em’.

My Pick: Florida +2
