The 2013 NCAA tournament takes center stage in the world of sports Thursday night, as the Sweet 16 gets underway. Find out where we believe that the best value lies for our NCAA Basketball picks tonight.
Let’s take a closer look at the NCAA basketball odds for
two games that I find value in, while offering up an against-the-spread pick in
Arizona Wildcats vs. Ohio State Buckeyes
Arizona was one of the more impressive teams in the
tournament last week, as they picked up convincing victories over Harvard
(74-51) and Belmont (81-64) ad 10.5 and 4.5-point favorites respectively.
The Wildcats are 15-6 against the spread (ATS) as
underdogs the last two-plus seasons, with the UNDER going 14-7 in that
situation. It’s important to note that
the program tipped off getting points just once during the 2012-13
campaign—coming away with a 65-64 victory over the Florida Gators on Dec. 15.
Ohio State advanced past two teams that rely heavily on
the 3-point shot, as it tallied wins over Iowa State (78-75) and Iona (95-70)
as 7.5 and 15-point favorites respectively.
The Buckeyes are playing in their fourth consecutive
Sweet 16, but they haven’t played on the West Coast in quite some time, with
their second and third round games in this year’s Big Dance taking place at the
University of Dayton.
I established the Buckeyes as 1.5-point neutral-site
favorites in this affair, which provides the Wildcats with considerable value
for our NCAA Basketball picks tonight.

Indiana Hoosiers vs. Syracuse Orange
Indiana has been widely considered the top team
nationally throughout the season, as it picked up wins over Temple (58-52) and
James Madison (83-62) to reach the second week of action.
The Hoosiers earned one of four No. 1 seeds in the
tournament due to being the Big Ten Conference regular season champions, while
ranking second nationally in scoring margin by outscoring foes by an average of
College basketball handicappers may have a hard time
laying this type of number at the Verizon Center, considering the Hoosiers are
5-11 ATS in their last 16 games on a neutral floor.
Syracuse had very little trouble advancing to this stage
with a pair of wins in San Jose, CA, which included a 66-60 victory over the
California Golden Bears as six-point neutral-site favorites in the Round of 32.
The Orange will rely heavily on their 2-3 zone on the
defensive end, but the Hoosiers should be properly prepared due to the amount
of time they’ve had since their win over the Owls Sunday.
From a sports betting trend perspective, the Orange are
also 0-6 ATS in their last six games on a neutral floor with a total between
135 and 139.5, which signifies they struggle against strong offensive teams.
