Ole Miss Rebels pick up SEC road win and cover at LSU

Ole Miss will dictate the pace of today's game and not allow LSU to slow things down in hopes of keeping it close.  Ride the Rebels to the pay window in this SEC battle.

The Ole Miss Rebels make the short trip to Baton Rouge for an afternoon SEC battle with the LSU Tigers.

SBR BasketballLSU has struggled in conference play this season. The Tigers enter this game off a loss to Auburn at home, 84-80, as a three-point home favorite. That loss came after a two-game SEC road trip that saw the Bayou Bengals lose at Florida, 72-58, and South Carolina, 67-58.

Prior to that short road swing they were demolished at home by Alabama, 66-44, as a two-point home favorite. That’s four straight conference losses and only one cover against the spread during that span.

The Tigers are young and very limited in the talent department, not good news when facing a team that plays solid transition basketball and averages over 81 points per game. Ole Miss enters today’s matchup off a home victory over South Carolina, 66-57, as an 8 ½-point home favorite.  That came on the heels of a tough defeat at Tennessee, 71-69, as a seven-point road underdog.

The Rebels should have no trouble in dictating the pace on both ends of the floor and we expect LSU to struggle trying to trade baskets with this Ole Miss squad.

LSU has no choice but to try and play slow because they do not have a bevy of players that can score the ball. The Tigers rely on Bo Spencer, who is really their only true outside threat averaging just under 15 points per game.  The Rebels will take him out of his game and force the Tigers into a much faster pace than they are comfortable playing.

We have no reservations in laying the points with the Rebels as this LSU team will continue to struggle in conference play as Ole Miss notches another SEC victory in Baton Rouge on Saturday.

Projected Final Score: Rebels-70 Tigers-59

Free Pick: Mississippi -6½ (-110)
