Having had Week 10 off, the Green Bay Packers invade Ford Field to engage fellow NFC North denizen the Detroit Lions. How do we manage a play on the Lions if so inclined, considering their abject failure to win against the Pack. Check out our NFL picks recommendation.
NFL odds makers like the road
team in this one, having listed the visiting Packers as a -3 point
favorite; they apparently expect a shootout - posting a total way up there at 51 ½
points.
The Packers
Green Bay enters this game
against Detroit after enjoying a bye-week, but as a team, they are still dealing
with a bevy of injuries.
However, if recent history is
a factor, the Packers should roll right over the Lions en route to their 12th
straight up victory in 13 chances against the team from the Motor City.
More importantly for the
Packers, a win can inch them closer to the first place Chicago Bears in the NFC
North.
Speaking of the NFC North,
the Packers play five of their remaining seven games against division rival
opponents.
The Lions
Detroit, the 10th
ranked defense in the NFL has struggled at times, especially last Sunday. They
allowed Adrian Peterson to run all over them for a stellar 171 yards, while QB
Christian Ponder connected on 24 of 32 pass attempts en route to a 34-24
victory over the Lions.
In the last matchup against
the Packers, Detroit surrendered 550 total yards while suffering a 45-41 loss
to end of the 2011 campaign.
Fortunately
for the Lions, five of the last seven games
on their schedule come in the friendly confines of Ford Field.
Betting Trends
The Packers are a perfect 5-0
ATS in their last five games played against teams in the NFC North and 8-2
against the spread in their last 11 games played in the month of November.
Going back seven games, the
Lions are 2-5 against the spread in their next game following a straight up
loss. Additionally, they are a poor 1-6 ATS in their last seven versus teams in
the NFC North.
Head To Head
The Packers have covered 5 of
their last 6 games against the Lions when meeting up in Detroit.
Free Pick
Even though the Packers are
banged up and this is a road game, I expect them to cover the number. Lay the
-3 with the Packers on the road for an ATS and straight up victory.
Pick: Packers -3
