Week 6 NFL Picks: Tuesday Odds Update
By: Jordan Sharp
NFL Odds
are on the move, as news was on the march on in the critically acclaimed film,
“Citizen Kane.” Let’s take a look at the NFL betting lines today and see if more
early week value is opening up.
The
Thursday Night Football line is dropping steadily, as the Titans seem to be
getting tons of sharp action. Despite 65% of early bets being on the Steelers
on the road, the line has dropped from -6 to -5 ½ and -4 ½ in some instances. I
was thinking that the Steelers were the play in this one, but now I’m having
second thoughts. Continue to watch the line over the next 48 hours to see if
the trend of betting the Titans continues.
The
Bengals are taking on money like gangbusters, as 70% of bets coming in are on
the Bengals. However, I think there is going to be some value going the other
way if Cincinnati gains more points. Already you can find the Browns at +3 at
home, and teasing that line up is very inviting. The Browns aren’t that bad,
and the Bengals aren’t that good. The line is averaging around -1 ½ right now.
Find out why Dave Lawrence has decided to add this game to his NFL Fades for Week 6.
As I
suspected, people are catching on to the Lions taking WAY too many points in Philadelphia
this weekend. The Lions are coming off a bye, and after they opened at +6 road
underdogs, the Lions have dropped to +5. Jump on while you still can, because
this line might be the biggest mover of the week.
It looks as if the line between the 49ers and Giants is continuing to
drop. After opening at -7 in favor of the home 49ers, the line has already
dropped to -5. Look for a surge of money on the 49ers later in the week if the
line continues to drop.

NFL Odds: Week 6 Opening Odds
By: Jordan Sharp
Week 5
is in the books, and due to the fact that we have Thursday night games, Week 6
is right around the corner. There is one game left on the
Week 5 slate, but that will not stop us from taking an early glance at the Week 6 NFL Odds, and see where
the best value lies for your NFL picks. I can already tell you, it looks as if there is a wealth of
early week value for Week 6, and yes I can say ‘week’ one more time.
Thursday
Night Football is taking a stop into “Cashville” Tennessee, as the Titans host
the Steelers. The Titans have a whole lot of problems this season, from Chris
Johnson forgetting how to run the ball, to their second year quarterback
getting hurt, and everything in between. They have been giving up over 400
yards of total offense every game, and they rank in the bottom of the NFL in
rushing yards.
The
Steelers come in anywhere from a -5 ½ to -7 favorite, and already the money is
pouring in on the Steelers. You can bet this one goes north of a touchdown
sometime during this week, and I bet it settles there.
Even
though they haven’t played their Week 5 game just yet, the Jets will come off
of a short week to host the Colts. New York is actually favored in this game by
-3, but only one book (BetOnline) has the line out. If I were you, I’d go run
and bet the Colts. I have a feeling the Jets are about to get slammed the
second week in a row tonight.
Read our thoughts on tonight's Texans vs. Jets battle.
The
Raiders come off their bye week, and for their present they get to travel to
Atlanta to face one of two (pending tonight’s Texans game) undefeated teams
left in the NFL. The Falcons are favored anywhere from -8 to -10, and with how
the Raiders have looked so far, you can bet this line will settle around double
figures.
However,
coming off a bye helps some teams, so the Raiders could find their offense
after a week off. However, their defense is still pretty bad, and they will be
facing one of the league’s best offenses, so I can’t go and advise taking
points with the Raiders right now.
The
Cowboys are a +4 underdog against the Ravens next week in Baltimore. Dallas had
a bye week to get their feet back underneath them, while the Ravens were in a
trench war against the Chiefs this past week, winning 9-6. I think we can
expect this line to not do a whole lot. The betting lines will likely stay put,
or possibly go down to -3 ½ Ravens, but no more than that.
Even
with all the problems they have been having, the Eagles are a -6 favorite
against the Lions this week in Philadelphia. Look, I know as good as most of
how much the Lions defense sucks after their front four, but the Eagles have
been tortured by teams like this in the past. This is one I can say with confidence;
coming off of a bye, the Lions +6 looks amazing right now!
Seattle
is a +4 underdog at home this week against the Patriots. New England showed up
well for the second week in a row, this time beating the Broncos by
double-figures. Going into Seattle is tough, and if my calculations are
correct, Brady has never played in Seattle before, (with the possible exception
of a preseason game). This one could get interesting. See where it moves during
the week.
The
rematch of the NFC Title game is one of the late games, as the Giants head out
west to San Francisco. The Niners are a towering -6 favorite over the Giants,
and it has to do with all the injuries the Giants are suffering from. Lay off
until you see some movement one way or another. It is still -5 ½, and even -7
at some shops.
Finally,
Sunday night should be an epic game between the Packers and Texans from
Houston. The Packers lost to the Colts last week, while the Texans play the
Jets tonight. The Texans are -5 ½ favorites on the early odds against Aaron
Rodgers’ Packers. I think you can expect this line to drop, but I also think it
will be bet right back up. This is going to be a game where the sharps possibly
disagree.
