Where do we believe that the best NFL preseason betting value lies, and where are we placing our NFL picks?
Saturday
and Sunday bring about seven preseason games for the NFL, and we have some
value in several of them. The regular season is fast approaching, and teams
will start to play their main players just a little more, in order to prepare
them, and get them in game shape for the season. August is half over, but the
preseason is just heating up! Find out who we are adding to our NFL picks this weekend and where we believe the best value lies.
49ers vs. Texans
Two of
the NFL's top defenses will face off against one another Saturday night, and
both of them will look to improve upon their Week 1 performances in the
preseason. The 49ers dispatched the Vikings, while the Texans took down the
Panthers.
Neither
of those teams have good defenses, so it wasn’t that hard for second and third
strings to score. However, this weekend, the scoring should be at a minimum, at
least for a while. I assume that both teams will want to put their first
strings on the field for at least the majority of the first half.
While I
expect Houston to fold first when it comes to pulling starters, I still expect
this game to be a hard fought and dragged out battle. With that being said, I
like the under.
NFL Pick: UNDER 37
Seahawks vs. Broncos
Another
two teams with undefeated preseason records are set to get it on Saturday
evening, as the Seahawks will be the next preseason test for Peyton Manning and
company. The Broncos destroyed the Bears in Week 1, while the Seahawks did a
good job in dismantling the Titans, 27-17.
NFL Odds
are favoring the Broncos in this one barely at -1, and some sportsbooks have the
game as dead even. The Seahawks are still dealing with their quarterback
controversy, and rookie Russell Wilson should get a good run at playing time
after Matt Flynn gets his go at it in the first half.
With the
starters playing more, I still love the under in this game. First team defenses
will have the upper hand in this one, and considering Manning is still probably
getting used to his teammates, while the Seahawks are trying to get used to two
new QBs. With the offensive uncertainty, I’ll side with two of the league’s
best defenses and take the under.
NFL Pick: UNDER 38
Colts vs. Steelers
NFL Odds
like the Steelers in this preseason matchup at the tune of -4, but despite the
rookie Andrew Luck leading a new year for the worst team in the league last
season, I like the Colts taking points in this one.
The
Steelers are veterans and very old on defense, they don’t need the preseason
like a young Colts team with a new rookie quarterback does. The Steelers lost
their first preseason game against the Eagles, and despite the Steelers having
a good preseason record throughout the Ben Roethlisberger days, I don’t think
they are going to try too hard in the preseason this year. Roethlisberger is hurt;
they are without their number one receiver, and I don’t think they are that
good.
NFL Pick: Colts +4
