CFL Betting Preview – Tiger-Cats Aim For Revenge

By: | www.sbrforum.com
Winnipeg embarrassed Hamilton in each team's 2010 CFL opener by a score of 49-29.  The Tiger-Cats will be out for some revenge in the rematch Thursday night.

Revenge is a dish best served cold, according to the movie Kill Bill. We’ll see if it plays out that way in the CFL on Wednesday.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will take on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for the second time in three weeks but this time, home field advantage will be reversed.

WinnipegIt was the Blue Bombers who pounded the Ti-Cats in their 2010 Canadian Football League opener by a final score of 49-29, which surprised a number of football betting cappers. In the grand scheme of things, the Ti-Cats and Bombers should be roughly equal, so the one-sided result came a bit out of left field.

Nonetheless, both teams underwhelmed in Week 2 and both have something to prove for this coming meeting on Thursday.

Catching Up With The Blue Bombers

The Bombers were flying high after their romp over the Tiger-Cats in their opener and surely they were going to handle the hapless Toronto Argonauts at home in Week 2, right?

The answer to that question comes in the form of a very disappointing 36-34 home loss.

The biggest head-scratcher for Winnipeg has to be the fact that they gave up 36 points to the Argonauts on their own turf, which was one point shy of the Week 2 high.

If there is good news, it’s that the Blue Bombers defense still held the Argos to just 321 yards of total offense. But they poorly managed the football game from start to finish – allowing the Argos to pick up a single when they kicked off to end the first half and coughed up a endzone-to-endzone missed field goal return for a touchdown.

There are a lot of positives on this team, especially the fact that Buck Pierce has been an electric quarterback through the first two weeks, but they need to play smarter if they want to be a serious contender.

Catching Up With The Tiger-Cats

Speaking of poorly managed games, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats were in contention for that award in Week 2. The story of the game wouldn’t be that Calgary won it, rather it would be that Hamilton lost it.

In a second half that featured a total of 13 points, the Tiger-Cats elected to go for it on a third down and goal play.  That resulted in a miss, and the three points turned out to be the difference.

Their offense isn’t the only one to blame as they gave the team the lead with just 1:10 to go in the game. But the Tiger-Cats defense broke and allowed the Stamps to walk all the way down the field and kick a game-winning field goal.

It was a better effort than their opener in Winnipeg, but the Tiger-Cats have yet to put it all together in a week. This will have to be the one or they’ll be 0-3.

The Matchup

This is a revenge game and the Ti-Cats should take advantage. They need this game badly and playing at home for a second week in a row, they should avoid another sloppy effort.

Meanwhile, this will be the Blue Bombers first road game and giving the inefficiencies they had at home last week, we can expect a few to seep over into this week.

Football Betting Pick: Tiger-Cats -3½
