Jerry Jones and the 'Boys are among the favorites in the NFC heading into the 2010 season. Oddsmakers have Dallas at 6/1 to go to Super Bowl XLV in Cowboys Stadium.
Anytime that you combine the glitz and glamour of Jerry Jones and the name of the Dallas Cowboys, the football stock market is going to be inflated beyond belief.
However, last season the 'Boys got through the first round of the playoffs for the first time in the Tony Romo era, which could set the stage for yet another good run in 2010. Is it enough to buy some stock in "Big D" as +130 favorites to win the NFC East, though?
Bullish Stock: QB Tony Romo
For a guy that has thrown for 15,045 yards in just four seasons, NFL betting fans tend to give Romo a lot of grief for the fact that he can't find a way to win the big game. What everyone outside of Dallas needs to realize just how strong of a quarterback Romo really is.

If you take Romo's average 16-game season, the no-name quarterback from Eastern Illinois would have statistics that look something like this: 343 completions, 4,376 yards, 31 TDs, 16 INTs. Over nine seasons as a quarterback, those are Hall of Fame type of numbers.
With some new weapons in tote, the offense in Dallas could be even better than it was last season when it averaged 399.4 yards and 22.6 points per game. Whether we like it or not, Romo is a 4* stock of a quarterback.
Stock That has Hit Rock Bottom: WR Dez Bryant
Considering the fact that Bryant was unceremoniously booted off of the Oklahoma State football team last year, his stock probably can't drop much further. He had Top 5 talent for the NFL Draft, but ultimately fell into the 20s where Dallas traded up to snare him to complement a core of receiving options that includes TE Jason Witten and WRs Roy Williams and Miles Austin.
Two years ago, Bryant had 87 catches for 1,480 yards and 19 scores for the Pokes, and many felt as though he was one of the best receivers in the nation at that point. Just as WR Michael Crabtree helped out the 49ers last season, we very much so expect Bryant to be able to do the same in Dallas. Buy his stock before the investors figure out that he can still make a big difference on the outside.
Stock Up: OC Jason Garrett
Remember when Jones wanted to name Garrett as his head coach a few years and instead elected to use Wade Phillips as a scapegoat to prepare Garrett for the job? We're still waiting for the longtime backup quarterback on this team to become the man in charge, but the job that he has done with Romo and the Dallas offense is just fantastic.
This is a great running stable that he has put together with RBs Marion Barber and Tashard Choice, and the mix between the run and pass has been fantastic during his entire tenure as Cowboys offensive coordinator. Dallas knows that it has a diamond in the coaching rough waiting to flourish, and we are support Garrett as one with great futures value for you to invest in now.
Buying or Selling the Dallas Cowboys
We aren't quite so sure that the Cowboys should be the second favorite on the board to win the NFC, especially at just +600 NFL odds. But there is no doubt that this is a team to keep an eye on. The oddsmakers have rightfully given this team a lofty win total of 9.5 to shoot for. This may seem relatively low for a squad that won 11 games last season and really looks to have done nothing but improve, but the schedule is going to be atrocious at times.
There really are some brutal stretches of games here, as there isn't any real relief from the start of the schedule until Jacksonville comes to town on October 31. Aside from that and home games against Detroit and Washington, are there really any other games that you look at on this schedule and think to yourself, "This is a game that is absolutely a win for the Cowboys?"
We tend to think not. Still, we know that more often than not, Dallas will be favored, and more often than not it will probably win as well. Romo and the gang should be good enough for at least 10 wins and another playoff spot this year, making this team worthy of buying stock in as a 4* club.
