Top Displays

The Pittsburgh Steelers beat Tampa Bay 38-13.  The 2-1 Bucs were victims of Rashard Mendenhall, to whom fantasy owners rejoiced with 19 carries for 143 yards (7.5 average) and a touchdown.  Batch will need to decrease interceptions though, throwing two picks though he had three touchdowns on just 186 yards passing.

Rounding out the backs, Adrian Peterson (24-10), Chris Johnson (29-10), and Cedric Benson (20-7) made a big difference in their games.  Note that Peterson ran for 160 yards, though against a weak Lions' defense.  Minnesota, Tennessee, and Cincinnati will continue to demand rush defense analysis in their upcoming NFL betting matchups

Yes, Michael Vick is back.  Running for 30 yards (four carries), Vick had one touchdown on the run - along with three touchdowns on 291 yards passing, going 17 for 31.  The Eagles dominated that football betting matchup, where the Eagles are an offensive force to consider moving forward in the NFL betting schedule.

Disappointing Offenses

Yes, the Eagles' opponent, the Jacksonville Jaguars, certainly qualify.  Scoring only three points last week, they have struggled, most notably with Maurice Jones-Drew's 3.8 yards per carry and no touchdowns.  Giving up 83 total points doesn't help either, of course.

Called in an upset pick from SBR, the Texans were outplayed by Dallas in their first loss of the NFL season.  Matt Schaub's two interceptions accounted for two of three total turnovers for Houston in that NFL betting matchup.  Arian Foster had a respectable 106 yards at 6.2 yards per carry, but couldn't find the end zone.

Other teams are either no surprise or continue to disappoint.  San Francisco, Carolina, and others at the bottom of the standings need to show something better offensively if they are to make any real noise.

Overview

Clearly the NFL betting schedule and Week 3 in particular have revealed some impressive and underwhelming offensive displays.

Don't be surprised to see some up-and-coming offenses come more efficient.  For instance, the new-look Cincinnati Bengals are likely excited to play Cleveland and Tampa Bay, before playing Atlanta, Miami, Pittsburgh, and Indianapolis - with more tough matchups to come later.

So - who are the most impressive offenses thus far in the NFL betting season?  Are some of the impressive offensive teams (such as the Patriots' 38 points) enough to take care of the spread in the future.

The NFL Handicapping Forum and NFL betting picks from SBR will help you figure it all out.
