Tuesday night's NHL action gives us seven games to choose from, so I have picked four matchups that I feel hold great value for NHL bettors. Check out my NHL picks for four of tonight's games, as we try to maxamize out our NHL betting payouts.
Lets check out some of tonight's biggest games and cover the NHL picks I find to have the best chance of in cashing for us as the sportsbooks.
St. Louis Blues @
Detroit Red Wings
NHL Odds: Over/Under 5.5
The Blues-Red Wings series has completely flipped around
as these teams used to play nothing but overs until this season. To put it in
perspective, 11 straight meetings between these teams went over prior to this
season.
During this campaign, the two sides have already squared
off twice with five goals and three goals being scored in each matchup
respectively. With a 5.5 on the board for Tuesday’s matchup, we’ll aim for the
under once again.
Red Wings netminder Jimmy Howard is outstanding at home
where he has posted a 1.75 GAA while the Blues are one of the lowest scoring
teams on the road at just 2.12 per game (28th in the NHL). Take the
under.
NHL Picks: Under
5.5
Winnipeg Jets @
Colorado Avalanche
NHL Odds: Avalanche -135
The Colorado Avalanche are playing with plenty of
confidence these days and a road win in Minnesota on Monday night should only
boost them even more. Monday’s win snapped a nine-game road losing streak and
Tuesday they come home where they have won eight straight.
The Jets are in an awkward position as they have played
just one road game in the last month. Now they have to regain that feel for the
road and it’s not like they were particularly successful before. They have just
four wins in 16 road games this season. Goaltender Ondrej Pavelec hasn’t won in
seven straight road starts while posting a GAA of 4.00. The Avs are worth the
price of admission here.
NHL Picks: Avalanche
Philadelphia
Flyers @ Tampa Bay Lightning
NHL Odds: Over/Under 5.5
Neither team has particularly strong goaltending in this
matchup, so we could see plenty of goals on Tuesday.
The Flyers struggled to score goals heading into the
break, notching just eight in their final four games. But they are actually the
third-highest scoring team on the road at 3.32 per game, which is mostly why
they are 13-4-2 on the road this season.
Ilya Bryzgalov has been subpar lately, giving 11 goals in
his last three. His .895 save percentage is among the worst of any starting
goaltender this season.
As for the Lightning’s tandem of Dwyane Roloson and
Mathieu Garon, Roloson has lost four straight while posting a 5.09 GAA while
Garon has a 3.63 GAA in six career starts against Philadelphia.
NHL Picks: Over
Carolina
Hurricanes @ Pittsburgh Penguins
NHL Odds: Over/Under 5.5
We’ll test stability of the Cam Ward bandwagon on Tuesday
night with an under play when they face-off with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Ward has given up just three goals in two straight wins
and was even credited for a wacky empty-netter on Monday night.
The Pens are a much better defensive team at home as
their 2.27 GAA at home is the third-best in the East. Both of their netminders
have lower GAA’s at home than on the road.
Seven of the last 10 Pens games have gone under and this
has been an under series over the last few years with six of the last nine
meetings staying below the NHL betting number.
NHL Picks: Under
