Sunday night's NHL action gives us six games to choose from, so I have picked four matchups that I feel hold great value for NHL bettors. Check out my NHL picks for a few of tonight's games, as we try to maxamize out our NHL betting payouts.
Lets check out some of tonight's biggest games and cover the NHL picks I find to have the best chance of in cashing for us as the sportsbooks.
New York Rangers @
Montreal Canadiens
NHL Odds: Rangers -125
We gave the Habs a shot on Saturday night when they
hosted the Ottawa Senators and while they played valiantly, they still ended up
with a 3-2 shootout loss. The bottom line is that they are not a very good team
right now.
Sunday’s contest pits the best team in the Eastern
Conference against a team that has just six wins in their last 22 games. Home,
away – wherever – Montreal just isn’t playing with much confidence.
The Rangers love to prey on teams like this as they are
14-4 versus teams with a losing record. The Habs are just 7-17 when facing
teams above .500.
NHL Picks: Rangers
Los Angeles Kings
@ Edmonton Oilers
The Edmonton Oilers are the dregs of the Western
Conference as their newest losing streak has now hit five straight games. They
have just four wins in their last 22 games, so really, who’s counting losing
streaks? At this point, it’s assumed that they are going to take it on the chin
on a nightly basis.
On Sunday, they’ll get the Kings who are on a
back-to-back situation after beating the Calgary Flames on Saturday night. It’s
not the ideal situation taking the Kings but considering Edmonton is having trouble
in net, is dealing with a slew of injuries and has just two goals in their last
three games, there’s a good chance the Kings won’t even need their best effort
to win.
The Kings have won four straight in Edmonton. Take them
to win again and keep the Oilers miserable.
NHL Picks: Kings
San Jose Sharks @
Chicago Blackhawks
NHL Odds: Blackhawks -130
The Blackhawks have struggled of late as they have just
two wins in their last seven games. What’s even more disturbing is the fact
that four of those losses have come at home where they had previously been such
a dominant team.
San Jose has won six of their last seven games. They
should have an edge in net on Sunday with Antti Niemi getting the start against
his former team. He’s 4-1-1 against them with a 2.32 GAA and a .932 save
percentage.
With the Blackhawks missing Patrick Sharp and agitator
Daniel Carcillo, there should be enough of an opening for the Sharks to get the
win. At the very least, it’s decent NHL betting value for the team that is playing better
right now.
NHL Picks: Sharks
Carolina
Hurricanes @ Washington Capitals
NHL Odds:
Sunday’s contest is going to be an important one for the
Washington Capitals, who can climb into a tie for first place in their division
with a win. Washington has had a tumultuous first half of the season, which
included the firing of head coach Bruce Boudreau. Recently, they’ve played
particularly well winning six of their last eight.
The Hurricanes are in a tough spot after a big home win
against Boston on Saturday. It’s a
back-to-back on the road and their third game in four nights, and they’re
playing in Washington, who has won six straight at home. They are 16-5-1 at
home this season.
During their six-game home winning streak, they’ve
outscored opponents 19-7. Given their dominance at home, we’ll play the puck
line and look for them to take care of Carolina rather easily.
NHL Picks: Capitals
