Monday night's slate gives us six games to choose from, so I have picked three matchups that I feel hold the best value for NHL bettors. Check out my NHL picks for these games, as we try to maxamize out our NHL betting payouts.
Lets check out some of tonight's biggest games and cover the NHL picks I find to have the best chance of in cashing for us as the sportsbooks.
New Jersey Devils
vs. New York Rangers
NHL Odds: Devils +130
The New York Rangers continue to fade and us sports bettors don’t want
any part of it. As a matter of fact, we want a piece of their opponent on
Monday: the New Jersey Devils.
This is strictly a bet-against New York play as the
Rangers have now lost five of their last seven. Even their two wins were close
calls with a 4-3 overtime win against the New York Islanders and an
underwhelming 4-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.
A big concern is goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, who has
just hit a wall in March. He is just 2-3-1 this month while giving up 19 goals
in six starts. That’s a stark contrast from his performance in February where
he went 8-2-0 with a 1.29 GAA.
Look for the Devils to give the Rangers a swift kick
while they’re down.
NHL Picks: Devils
Buffalo Sabres vs.
Tampa Bay Lightning
NHL Odds: -115
The Tampa Bay Lightning were just two points out of a
playoff spot a couple of weeks ago. Now they’re a sinking ship that’s all but
eliminated from the postseason.
They’ve now lost five of their last six games and once
again, goaltending is the culprit. Dwayne Roloson actually wasn’t too bad on
Saturday night as he gave up only three goals to the St. Louis Blues but he
always gives up at least three. What’s more disappointing for Tampa Bay is the
fact that they can’t get their offense going – especially at home. They’ve now
scored just six goals in their last four losses.
Buffalo has lost two straight but they’re still quite
confident. Both of the losses came in overtime, which means nothing to bettors
but means that the team still picked up a point in the standings. They’re still
very much in the playoff race.
With a huge edge in net in this contest, the Sabres have
to be the smart sports pick. Tampa Bay is just tanking and can’t trust anyone between the
pipes and it’s affecting the team. Bet the Sabres.
NHL Picks: Sabres
Anaheim Ducks vs. San Jose Sharks
NHL Odds: -170
The San Jose Sharks seemed to have found rock bottom and
bounced off of it. For a long time, they were the leaders of the Pacific
Division but they’ve watched themselves slide down the standings consistently
throughout February and March. But recently, they seem to have turned the tide
with a 3-0-1 stretch in their last four with a few of the wins being against
quality teams.
They pushed the Flames in a 3-2 overtime loss, they
topped the Nashville Predators and then they beat the Detroit Red Wings as
well. That is what’s going to encourage our support as the Anaheim Ducks visit
on Monday.
The Ducks are at the opposite end of the spectrum as they
continue to fade. Not only have they slumped throughout all of March, they’ll
also have to battle fatigue on Monday as they’ll be in a back-to-back situation
while also playing their third game in four nights. Overall, it’s also their
sixth game in 10 nights. This looks like a good spot to trust the Sharks.
NHL Picks: Sharks
