Tuesday night's slate gives us nine games to choose from, so I have picked four matchups that I feel hold the best value for NHL bettors. Check out my NHL picks for these games, as we try to maxamize out our NHL betting payouts.
Lets check out some of tonight's biggest games and cover the NHL picks I find to have the best chance of in cashing for us as the sportsbooks.
New York Islanders
vs. Toronto Maple Leafs
NHL Odds: Maple Leafs -135
Call it a snap-judge reaction – or overreaction – if you
like, but there’s simply no way any sports bettors should be laying -135 with the Toronto
Maple Leafs on Tuesday. They were shredded to bits on Monday night in an 8-0
loss to the Boston Bruins and on a quick turnaround, they know come home to
host the Islanders.
To be quite honest, there’s very little in between these
teams. The Leafs are just three points better in the standings and while
they’re on home ice, that could work against them on Tuesday. The fans have
turned on them and they really could care less what they do the rest of the
season.
It’s a back-to-back situation for the Leafs with no rest
and their third game in four nights. There’s simply no reason to back them.
NHL Picks:
Islanders
Winnipeg Jets vs.
Pittsburgh Penguins
NHL Odds: Penguins -235
The Pittsburgh Penguins are one of the hottest teams in
the league still even though they’re coming off a loss. They’ve still won 11 of
12 and have a real shot at winning the Eastern Conference if they keep this up.
With that in mind, they’re worth a look on Tuesday
against the Winnipeg Jets, who have been simply awful on the road this season.
They’re a completely different team away as they outscore opponents by 0.71 at
home whereas on the road where they are outscored by 1.12 goals.
Jets netminder Ondrej Pavelec is 0-5-0 with a 5.42 GAA
against Pittsburgh while backup Chris Mason is 0-4-0 with a 4.44 career GAA. With
the juice being a little too ridiculous, lay the puck line with the Penguins.
NHL Picks: Penguins
-1.5
Florida Panthers vs.
Philadelphia Flyers
NHL Odds: Over/Under 5.5
Under looks like a good play between the Flyers and
Panthers as both teams are being led by two hot goaltenders.
Panthers netminder Jose Theodore is 4-0-1 with a 1.36 GAA
in his last five games. As for the Flyers, goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov has been
phenomenal of late. He’s 8-0-1 with a 1.19 GAA in his last 10 starts overall
and he’s 4-0-1 with a 1.36 GAA in his career versus Florida.
The under is 9-1 in the Flyers last 10 games and it’s 8-3
when the Panthers have two days rest. Also, three of the last four meetings in
this series have stayed under the number, so bet the under to your sports picks.
NHL Picks: Under
Chicago Blackhawks
vs. Columbus Blue Jackets
NHL Odds: Over/Under 5.5
It’s a bit surprising to see plus-money on the over in
the matchup between the Blackhawks and Blue Jackets simply because this has
been a complete over series. Each of the last eight games in Columbus have gone
over along with 26 of the last 34 there as well. Beyond that, the over has
cashed in 13 of the last 17 meetings overall.
One of the reasons for it is because the Blackhawks have
been getting good goaltending from Corey Crawford, who has won four straight
while allowing just six goals in the process. But three of those four games
came at home and Crawford has been much weaker on the road – as have both
Blackhawks goaltenders.
The Blackhawks give up 2.54 goals per game at home
compared to 3.17 on the road. Given the history, the situation and the price,
over is the play in this game.
NHL Picks: Over
