With six games scheduled for the evening, lets try to cover three of them with our NHL betting selections. Check out my NHL picks for these games, as we try to maxamize out our NHL betting payouts.
Lets check out both of tonight's games and cover the NHL picks I find to have the best chance of in cashing for us as the sportsbooks.
Ottawa Senators vs. New York Islanders
NHL Odds: Senators -130
The Ottawa Senators are worth a look on Sunday as they
face the feeble New York Islanders. The Isles have won five of seven but that
streak looks particularly good because they caught the Pittsburgh Penguins
asleep at the wheel twice this week. Reality set in on Saturday when they were
smoked 6-3 at home by the Boston Bruins.
Al Montoya was in net for that game and allowed six goals,
which ties his career high. With Evgeni Nabokov hurt, the Isles will either
have to go back to Montoya or go with John Grahame, who hasn’t started since
2008. It won’t help matters that Grahame is 0-6-0 with a 3.69 GAA in his career
against Ottawa.
The Sens have won three straight while scoring 18 goals
in the process. When they’re offense is on, they’re tough to beat.
They’ve won seven of the last 11 meetings with the
Islanders while outscoring them 11-2 in their latest two wins. Add the Senators to your sports picks.

Minnesota Wild vs.
Chicago Blackhawks
NHL Odds: Over/Under 5
It’s a tad surprising to see a Chicago Blackhawks contest
with a low total of five. Sure, Minnesota is their opponent but the Blackhawks
have displayed the key qualities of an ‘over’ team: they score a lot and their
goaltending is questionable.
It’s not often that a team like that sees a total of five
but when the Blackhawks have had that number, they’ve trended over. This year,
the over is 4-1 when the Blackhawks are at home with that total and it’s 9-2 in
their last 11 in the same scenario.
The over has connected in five of the Blackhawks last
seven games overall.
NHL Picks: Over
Florida Panthers vs.
Detroit Red Wings
NHL Odds: Red Wings -175
We’re going to give the Red Wings one more kick at the
can even though they disappointed us earlier in the week. They’re mired in a
big slump with just three wins in their last 13 games but most of that was
without goaltender Jimmy Howard. He returned on Thursday in a 4-1 loss to Nashville
but often times a player can be a bit rusty in their first game back from an
injury. He should look crisper on Sunday.
The Florida Panthers aren’t playing so well themselves as
they have just one win in their last six games. They’ve also played poor on the
road recently with just two wins in their last eight road games.
The Panthers are really struggling offensively as they
haven’t scored more than two goals in seven straight games. It won’t help to
know that goaltender Jose Theodore has lost six of his seven career starts at
Joe Louis Arena.
Seeing the Panthers lose 4-1 in Columbus on Friday gives
me confidence to take the Red Wings on the puck line on Sunday – especially
since it’s the Panthers third game in four nights and fourth in six.
The Red Wings are 4-0 this season when at home with a
total of five while the Panthers have lost 12 of 17 facing that same total on
the road. We are going to take the Red Wings as our NHL betting pick.
NHL Picks: Red Wings -1.5 +175
