Tonight's NHL slate offers us eleven games to choose from, and I have provided four that I feel hold the best value for NHL bettors. Check out my NHL predictions for these games, as we try to maxamize out our NHL betting payouts.
Lets check out some of tonight's biggest games and cover the NHL picks I find to have the best chance of in cashing for us as the sportsbooks.
Washington
Capitals vs. Toronto Maple Leafs
NHL Odds: Maple Leafs -135
At this point, it’s pretty tough to lay any juice with
the Toronto Maple Leafs. They’ve been particularly sloppy over their last eight
games – losing seven of them – and they have had a lot of trouble scoring
goals. In those seven losses, they have scored just 11 goals.
The Leafs aren’t getting quality goaltending either as
both goaltenders have combined for a 3.88 GAA in that span.
Washington isn’t particularly impressive but they’re a
capable team and they’re worth the price tag given that they’re paying out
quite a bit as a nice dog. With a healthy Alex Ovechkin back in the lineup,
they’re the sports betting play here.
NHL Picks: Capitals
Phoenix Coyotes vs.
Edmonton Oilers
NHL Odds: Coyotes -120
The Coyotes are worth the price of admission here given
how hot they’ve been. Phoenix has now won nine of their last 10 games overall
with their only loss coming in Vancouver via a shootout.
The best part is that the Coyotes thrive in this series,
winning eight of the last nine meetings.
The Oilers have been impressive in two straight wins over
Calgary and Philadelphia, but overall, they are a team that’s really struggled
to find that level of consistency necessary to compete. They’re just not a team
that you can trust – even at home – when getting such a small payout. Take the
Coyotes in this spot.
NHL Picks: Coyotes
Boston Bruins vs.
Ottawa Senators
NHL Odds: Bruins -120
It’s pretty clear that the Boston Bruins are not playing
at the level of a Stanley Cup champion, but even so, they’re worth a look on
Saturday night given the circumstances. The Ottawa Senators have crept up on
them in the division and they have a chance to show them who is the boss.
The Sens have been on fire offensively, scoring 28 goals
in their last six games, but that will be tough to continue against Boston. Tim
Thomas has won eight straight starts in Ottawa while posting a 1.35 GAA in that
span. Meanwhile, the Sens will be without their top goaltender Craig Anderson
and will have to rely on backup Alex Auld. Auld has a 3.28 GAA this season
including a 4.03 GAA at home.
The Bruins are inconsistent but this is a good spot for
them to earn a win.
NHL Picks: Bruins
Florida Panthers vs. Carolina Hurricanes
NHL Odds:
It’s hard to like the Panthers on Saturday night given
how they’ve been playing recently. They’ve lost four straight – all of which at
home – and that’s simply unacceptable when you consider that they’re in the
thick of a playoff race.
On Saturday, they’ve venture to Carolina to face a
Hurricanes team that’s much improved. They’ve only lost in regulation once in
their last nine contests and are 5-1-3 in that span. Overall, they are 6-1-1 in
their last eight home games. They are also 11-3-2 in their last 16 at home.
Florida is having trouble putting the puck in the net
with just five goals in their last four games. They are 21-2-4 this season when
they score three goals or more but clearly, they haven’t got to that number
recently.
If the Hurricanes go with Cam Ward, he’s won six of his
last eight home starts overall. If it’s backup Justin Peters, he’s won two
straight over Florida.
NHL Picks: Hurricanes
