strangers to defeat; LA Galaxy head to Frisco Texas hoping that FC Dallas’
recent form will be just a flash in a pan.
FC Dallas' first victory at the 13th time of asking, a 2-1 against the Colorado
Rapids, they suffered a 2-1 loss to the Quakes on the 19th July, but just
missed a last minute penalty to grab a point. They returned to winning ways in
style against the Portland Timbers on Saturday with a stonking 5-0 victory.
Portland were just the tonic for Dallas and looked beleaguered from the off in
a game that saw Dallas register 14 shots, six of which were on target and five
of which were goals. That 5-0 win equalled the biggest winning margin this
season and proved FC Dallas are well and truly BACK! (Maybe)
Days are here again
got off the mark thanks to a 16 minute own goal from Hanyer Luis Mosquera
Córdoba, and then went on the rampage. Andrew Jacobson made it two on 26
minutes and there were also goals from Jackson, Scott Sealy and Ruben Luna as
FC Dallas barely noticed the absence of offensive player Brek Shea (off the
roster and on the naughty step for disciplinary reasons). Dallas won for the second
time in three games and broke their habit of not scoring more than twice in a
game all season. It was a Brucey bonus victory as the points took those Toros
off the foot of the table, as they overtook Portland in the Western conference
standings. ''I think we put it all together,'' Jacobson said. ''We had really
good balance on the team, we attacked well, everyone defended well. It's kind
of what we've been waiting for all season, just for it to click and know what
it feels like when it works.''
LA meet Dallas the bookies seem to think we’ll see a clear winner as an LA
victory is at +150 and a Dallas win is at +160. I’d take that to mean that
we’ll see a decent number of goals, so bet Over on Saturday’s MLS match.
of delays during the Olympic Games
reason to back a decent scores is that LA Galaxy seem to be conspiring to show
Team GB that David Beckham SHOULD have gone to the Olympics as they went into
Saturday's SuperClasico against Chivas, on the back of an unbeaten three game
streak (that saw nine goals). Los Angeles are enjoying an impressive
goalscoring run from David (are you watching Stuart Pearce?) Beckham, who was
on a run of four goals in three games. Becks may not have got on the score
sheet on Saturday night, but he provided the opening assist against the Chivas
defense, a tidy little pass that split the defenders and gave Robbie Keane an
easy tap in.
was almost an exhibition match as LA seemed to dissect the Chivas defense with
their designated trio of Donovan, Keane and Beckham linking up and playing so
well it was tempting to shout SHOWOFFS! This display inspired those around them
and would have been the perfect warm up for a match against a Dallas side who
will be feeling like giant killers after their recent 5-0 win.
not all going LA’s way
LA had a less commanding game against Spurs in
a pre (EPL) season friendly, a game that ended 1-1 on Tuesday night. Spurs boss
Andre Villas-Boas can consider the draw a moral victory for his new side as Tottenham
should have been awarded (at least) two penalties after Referee Fotias Bazakos
inexplicably waves away the Londoners’ appeals for a penalty after Gareth Bale
was sent crashing down in the box by Galaxy’s sub goalie Brian Rowe. It was a
double groaner for Spurs as they were denied another gods’ honest spot kick
after sub Harry Kane was brought down in the box.
was a final chance for the visitors to show the Americans how to do it when
Aaron Lennon saw his fierce shot from David Bentley's cross deflect just wide.
Close but no cigar.
Dallas are no Spurs (read into that what you will).
Soccer Betting Prediction:
A high scoring LA win.
