The Red Devils have a golden opportunity to increase their lead at the top, that is if they can overcome Blackburn at Ewood Park. Lets see what the soccer betting choices the odds makers have set out for us in this one.
It doesn't make much of a difference who or where Manchester United is playing; they're likely to be favored in the soccer odds regardless.
That holds true for Monday as United is priced at -250 at
Bovada and -246 at sportsinteraction to head back up to Manchester with all
three points.
On their own pitch the Rovers are anywhere from +650 to +780
underdogs at the soccer betting outlets, while a draw is listed at +350 to +400.
United out for revenge
The first meeting of the season between these two clubs
ended in a stunning way, with Blackburn securing the 3-2 victory at Old
Trafford. Ayegbeni Yakubu netted a brace and Grant Hanley scored the winner
with 10 minutes to go.
Such a big win hasn't affected the Rovers' dreary league
position though.
Blackburn is tied for second-from-bottom in the table at 28
points, alongside QPR and Wigan Athletic. Given they only have eight more
matches to escape the relegation zone, every remaining fixture will be their
biggest of the season.
United meanwhile are unbeaten in 10 league matches and have
won six in a row heading into Monday's away clash.
Last weekend the Red Devils beat Fulham 1-0 at home thanks
to a Wayne Rooney goal. It wasn't a typical performance from Manchester United
and Sir Alex Ferguson was said to be unimpressed with his crew.
Two points up on Manchester City with a game in hand, United could really
do some damage to their rivals' psyche.
Rooney will try to act as the catalyst once more, and with
the way he's been scoring goals, the chances of him doing so are strong. He's
netted 29 times across all competitions for the Red Devils this term. Only
Robin van Persie has more.
Influential strikers on both ends
On the other side, Yakubu has been a shining light for a
team that's suffered quite a bit all season long. Injuries have been
detrimental and Steve Kean also lost his captain, Christopher Samba, to Russia
during the transfer period.
Yakubu has 14 league goals this season. Considering he's
already torched United once this season, you know Ferguson will have something
drawn up to deal with the burly striker the second time around.
The Red Devils were embarrassed by Blackburn in front of
75,000+, a game that also marred Ferguson's 70th birthday
celebrations. They are bound to come out with a point to prove on Monday.
Momentum is also squarely in United's side right now. They
haven't lost in the league since the first week of January, beating Arsenal,
Tottenham and Liverpool and tying Chelsea during that span.
It's imperative that the Red Devils build up their lead
leading up to April 30's penultimate battle with the Citizens at Etihad
Stadium. It'd be nice for them to have a little breathing room, and for that to
happen they have to beat these weaker sides, even away from Manchester.
Ferguson knows that and will have his boys ready.
