Chelsea are on the slide. Carlo Ancelotti’s team have gone
from being on the verge of running away with the league to being knocked off
their perch by Manchester United.
Now The Blues welcome Everton to Stamford Bridge in what
suddenly looks a very tricky test.
Chelsea to concede
more ground to rivals?
Three defeats, a draw and a victory in the past five matches
is not the form of champions, and with their title rivals continuing to pick up
points, Chelsea’s players are starting to feel the heat.
The sacking of coach Ray Wilkins, the loss of form of some
key players and injuries to others have all been blamed for Chelsea’s demise,
but once in decline, it is hard to reverse the trend. Everton will smell blood.
Despite their poor form, Chelsea remain favourites at -275
at Victor Chandler and quality does not disappear overnight. But it will be a
tight contest with victory by the odd goal. A good bet is on a low-scoring
draw, with 0-0 priced at +1200 or 1-1 quoted at +650 – both by Victor Chandler. Football betting Odds of less than 1.5 goals at +350 from Bodog also look tempting.
Tricky Toffees to
make life hard for Champions Chelsea
While Chelsea feel the heat at the top, Everton have
pressure of their own. Tipped as outsiders for a Champions League place at the
start of the season, they find themselves just two points from safety in
sixteenth place.
Everton have proven in recent years, and again this season,
that when it comes to playing the big boys, form goes out of the window. David
Moyes’ side will be encouraged by Chelsea’s recent results and odds of +800 at
Bodog on an away victory look very generous. A draw at +360 from Victor
Chandler is also a good option.
Like Chelsea, Everton have injury problems of their own, but
they remain a well-organised and dangerous team on their day. The creative
midfield talents of Steven Pienaar and Mikel Arteta added the cunning of Tim
Cahill will be constant threats to a weakened home defence.
Chelsea will soon break out of their poor run of form, but
Everton are more than capable of punishing any doubts and lack of confidence.
My best bet is on a 1-1 draw.
