Tottenham vs. Everton Soccer Betting

Spurs get the chance to stop their mini-slump becoming a crisis when they take on a side in the bottom half of the league, while Everton might think there’s never been a better time to face Tottenham.

Tottenham have lost their last two league games, and all the talk about them making a push for the title looks to have been extinguished. The 5-2 defeat away to Arsenal made a real dent in Spurs’ title aspirations but the 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Manchester United means that Harry's boys are a full 13 points and 31 goals behind league leaders Manchester City (and 11 points behind second place, Manchester United). Also thanks to back-to-back wins for Arsenal, Spurs have to look over their shoulder as the Gunners have closed the gap on third place to just four points.

What a difference two games can make.

Tottenham are now 250/1 to win the Premier League, but remain 1/6 to have a top four finish, while the soccer odds on them being the top London club have been reset to 8/15.

Before Saturday, Spurs hadn’t lost back-to-back games since the opening two matches of the season and were being talked up as a Champions League side and possible title contenders, but with the table as it is Spurs look to have a fight on their hands just for third place.

All things considered and with a midweek FA Cup replay against Stevenage on the cards, the Spurs will want to get back to winning ways and I expect a commanding performance from the London club next weekend.

At time of press Everton are 19 points behind Spurs, although they do have a game in hand. Everton could actually go as high as eighth should they take all three points from their game against Liverpool, and winning the Merseyside derby would leave them just two points behind their cross city rivals.

Chewey Toffees

A points tally of 34 isn't overly impressive after 26 games but Everton are looking pretty safe and the bookies are confident that they'll be playing Premier League football next season (Everton are currently 150/1 at the sportsbooks to be relegated).

Home and away

Everton's home form is pretty inconsistent. After 13 games they've won five, drawn three and lost five scoring 14 goals and conceding 13. That averages out roughly to a 1-1 draw which is available with the sportsbooks at 5/1 while any draw is available at 9/4. Tottenham's away form actually hasn't been much better than Everton's home record, they have won six, drawn three and lost four away from White Hart Lane scoring 22 and conceding 20. A goal difference like that also points towards a draw, however I think Spurs will want something more than a point from their trip to Everton.

We’re unlikely to see many goals

Looking at the last five head-to-head meetings between the two clubs shows a pretty even spread with two wins for Tottenham, one win for Everton and pair of draws. Neither side has scored more than two (in one of those five games) but Tottenham have been the only team to keep a clean sheet, and they only managed that once in the most recent encounter back in January at White Hart Lane.

Home advantage might be a real advantage in this one.

The three victories that these sides have shared in their last five encounters have all been in the home side's favour. A win for Everton is available at 15/8 and the shortest odds with the sportsbooks, for the correct score and an Everton win are on 1-0 at 7/1.

At Goodison Park, Everton have also taken the scalps of Chelsea and Manchester City this season. They put two past Chelsea without reply and they also beat league leaders and title favourites Manchester City 1-0.

Looking at the full-time half-time scores it seems that the bookies are favouring Spurs as they are at 3/1 to win both halves while Everton are at 7/2. Like the bookies, I'm putting my sports picks on a Spurs win.

Despite Spurs’ patchy form of late (having managed just one victory from their last five games), they are still a quality side and haven't fluked their way to third in the league. It's worth remembering that Tottenham's most recent victory was 5-0 demolition of Newcastle United where Harry's boys utterly bossed the game and gave Newcastle a stark reminder of how tough things can be when you're fighting for a European spot.
