The US Open is well under way and the big names are still in as we come towards Sundays play. Tennis betting looks set to continue on the likes of Andy Murray, Roger Federer and Novak Djokavic as they all progress. Federer looked imposing as he put away Paul-Henri Mathieu in straight sets and Andy Murray is up against Stanislav Wawrinka in their second encounter at the US Open. Preview the betting!
No. 1 Rafael Nadal vs
Gilles Simon
Pinnacle Odds: Nadal -1010
The No. 1 on the men's side is coming off of a stiff
second-round test against little-known Denis Istomin and now faces Gilles
Simon. Nadal needed two tie-breakers to dispel Istomin and advance.
Overall, Simon does have a win over Nadal (in 2008) but at
Grand Slams, Nadal has owned him. Expect more of the same tomorrow as many
pundits believe Istomin to be a superior player to Simon, but the odds for this
match are better on Nadal.
Pick: Nadal
No. 4 Andy Murray vs
No. 25 Stanislav Wawrinka
Tennis Odds: Murray
-750
This will be the ninth meeting between the two foes with
their second-ever at the US Open. Their most recent battle was quite the
classic at Wimbledon as Murray
needed five sets to outlast his Swiss counterpart.
Wawrinka has been a bit off his game this year with the
birth of his child and truth be told, he'd love to have this match on a much
slower surface. On hard court, given the way Murray is playing right now, this should be a
relatively quick match for him.
Pick: Murray

No. 8 Fernando
Verdasco vs No. 31 David Nalbandian
US Open Odds: Nalbandian -160
What does it say about this match when the No. 31 seed is a
-160 favorite over the No. 8 seed?
David Nalbandian has been resurgent this year and has made
it all the way back to No. 31 in the rankings. Earlier in the year, he was
ranked as low as 161 but he's been on-fire in August. He won the Legg Mason
Tennis Classic, then had a good run in the Rogers Cup in Toronto. At this point, he's confident and
playing very well. Expect him to go through here - maybe all the way to the
quarter-finals.
Pick: Nalbandian
No. 12 Mikhail
Youzhny vs No. 18 John Isner
Pinnacle Odds: Youzhny -145
There are a couple of Americans still left on the men's side
and John Isner is one of the two red, white and blue hopes.
Isner is having an excellent season but so is his
counterpart, Mikhail Youzhny. The Russian is 32-14 this year.
This has the makings of a classic written all over it.
Youzhny is a slight favorite but bettors should be tempted to take Isner since
he'll have the backing of the home crowd.
Aside from that, his excellent serve should earn him a
handful of free points and in a long match, that could very well be the
difference.
Pick: Isner
No. 14 Nicolas
Almagro vs No. 20 Sam Querrey
Tennis Lines: Querrey -216
Sam Querrey and Nicolas Almagro will meet for just the
second time in their careers and the surface should really offer an advantage
to Querrey.
The 22-year-old American is much more skilled on the
hardcourt surface whereas the Spaniard, Almagro, is better on clay. We got a
taste of what their match could look like in round three as Querrey waxed
Almagro 6-3, 6-2 in Auckland.
On top of that, Querrey will have the backing of the home
crowd and when you add it all up, Querrey looks like a solid bet at Pinnacle at
-216.
Pick: Querrey
Tommy Robredo vs
Michael Llodra
Pinnacle Odds: Llodra -155
Two unseeded ATP veterans will square off in the third round
of the U.S. Open for the right to advance. Neither is a real threat to win big
at Flushing Meadows but we should have an entertaining contest on our hands.
Llodra has been impressive in the tournament so far. He
ousted No. 7 seed Tomas Berdych and then disposed of Victor Hanescu in round
two. What might be most impressive is that this is the first time in his career
that he's won twice at a grand slam without losing a set.
Stick with the hot hand here.
Pick: Llodra -155
